I have found lately that I am posting more infrequently (?) on my long standing blog. http://samorama.com will now lead you to my "store blog" where I will post all sorts of media reviews, music, movie, tv etc related randomness and what have you.
If I feel the need to post something of a more "personal" nature you can now access that (and the same samorama crap since 2001) at:
http://samorama.info
Yeah, it's lame. I was going to go with the freebie blogspot URL but the .info was a mere $2.99 for a year!!
so for more commercial endeavors see:
http://samorama.com - I guarantee a post a day! maybe. probably not.
and for personal crap see:
http://samorama.info - which may change its appearance since I don't really feel like paying tripod to host a bunch of images hardly anyone is looking at.
You'll figure it out. I will attempt to keep you informed and entertained!
I think I am going to have samorama.com link up with my store blog. It's getting to the point where my posts here are so bland because I'm not really posting personal stuff because it's just weird or something. I don't know... I'll keep the info from samorama.com intact (maybe not the pics because I am too lazy). Don't cry for me, Argentina. I'll probably post more there anyways!
I'm in the middle of a mini vacation. I was off Thursday, worked Friday, and now am off 'til Tuesday. Thursday we went to Evanston and saw There Will Be Blood, had a few cocktails and then saw Juno. They are very different films, go fig. Friday was the infamous Jackhammer night. Vee Dee were excellent, and then Bob showed up and I kept drinking beyond what I should have probably. Not that i EVER do that!! What I remember of our conversation was pretty epic though. Yesterday was Stacy and Jim's wedding. Inbetween that and the reception we went to Chili's. Got to see Tony which is always a treat. After that I thought it was a god idea to meet Paul and Wafer Mike at Schubas, where Ciba and Porter were spinning. Ended up at Clark's with John, Adam, Meg and Paul where I kept drinking. Yikes. Off to Kuma's now, gonna try to not drink.
Adult Swim party tonite? Aqua Teen with Neko Case and Kelly Hogan and season finale of Tim and Eric!
As usual I am lax on the updates. Today Sooz, Paul and I are going to see some movies in Evanston. It is cold. I've been using a Neti Pot and believe I can breathe better. The new Liam Finn album is soooooooooooo good. Liam Finn > Jakob Dylan. Dang that talented Finn family!!
Today, after Adam specifically mentioned Five Leaves Left was his favorite Nick Drake, and remembering Tim had also said that, I decided I should pay it some more attention.
tonight, however, played out like a combination of a bad Wes Anderson film, some banal bullshit, and Robert Altman's Nashville....
At least in my head.
Fuck me. I am going to live every day like it is my last.
Tim and Adam, you are wrong. Absolutely wrong. Bryter Layter is the best.
Gena, sorry about Carols. I feel I am still owed cupcakes, however. Tuesday: Hot Dougs, and Cupcakes on Barry (is that the street? Briar? Um, have you ever had the margaritas at Chilli Mac's there? Me, Sooz Gena, Maragaritas, Tuesday. I am SERIOUS).
I am totally sick. Fucking cold like thing. almost too nauseous to take my CVS Nightime cold. Feeling somewhat blue since finding out Natalie, a super awesome girl I met via the internet and had the pleasure of hanging out with once in real life suddenly died. It's not making me feel better, that's for damn sure. I'm physically sick and emotionally sick. Zelda is being a good nurse though. It's hard to sleep when you can't breathe.

In the style guide in my head, you just should not include things on your Year-End Best Music list like soundtracks, comps, reissues, covers, etc, so I begin with a list of those special things.
The Most Special Musical Thing of 2007 (and maybe forever in my universe):
Magnolia Electric Company - Sojourner
Fading Trails pissed me off, and I never thought I'd get to hear all those sessions in their entirety. Not only does Jason Molina give me that, he puts it in a wooden box, includes a medallion (hello Merzbox! MECobox?) and a celestial map! Oh and a DVD that's just pretty. Now I may include the individual albums included in the box on my actual list, or not.
Adult Indie Rock Wet Dream That Became Reality:
I'm Not There - Original Soundtrack
Okay, maybe not a wet dream. In Indie Rockdom, you probably wouldn't care less if this never happened, but since it did you realize it was a good idea. You mean to tell me Nels Cline, Stephen Malkmus and Lee Ranaldo were in a studio together? And they played a Dylan song? I may have to write some slash fic about that. Er, anyways. Sufjan! Calexico! MMJ! White Magic! Wilco! Iron and Wine! Antony! You get the point!
7"s Still Matter Award:
Vee Dee - "Glimpses of Another World"
Clicking on an MP3 (or 3) will just never translate to a perfect 7". This is such a perfect 7". Three fucking great songs that leave you ravenous for more!
Bonnie "Prince" Billy released 2 not elligible pieces:
So I will quickly mention them both (Wai Notes, aka Letting Go demos and the "Ask Forgiveness" EP which is a bunch of covers and one original. R Kelly, fo' shizzle!) and mention they are both super good.
Way More Specific Indie Rock Wet Dream Come True:
Plum 7" Box - Thrill Jockey 15th Anniversary
I haven't had a chance to fully absorb this, but how can you fuck up a bunch of 7"s of Thrill Jockey artists covering Thrill Jockey Artists? I'll let you know.
Last night at Club Foot was very festive! Lots of candy, xmas straws and a Christmas Crossword! Watching Eryn do the crossword was quite entertaining. There was dancing! Dan showed up after last call and we ended up on the other side of 7AM having watched WAY too much VH1 Classic. They were rolling out Hall and Oats "Jingle Bell Rock" and Mannheim Steamroller's "Deck the Halls" so we really couldn't stop. Much last minute shopping with Sooz. My wrapping has not improved. At All. Taking a cue from Tony , I put together my own YouTube Christmas Special!! Hope you like it!
