Interesting perhaps only to people from my hometown:
TV Reporter Arrested For DUI
A long-time local news reporter spent Thursday night in jail after being stopped by police Wednesday evening.
Police arrested WTLV/WJXX reporter Winston Dean and charged him with driving under the influence, speeding and failure to show proof of insurance. Officers said that Dean, whose real name is Thaddius Toomer, was clocked driving too fast on Southside Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. The officer said Dean was swaying back and forth, and that he refused to take a field sobriety test. Dean posted bail and was released from jail Thursday morning.
Thaddius Toomer?? holy fucking shit, the best he could come up with was Winston Dean? Next you'll be telling me Tim Deegan is a lie too!
this poll is getting weird!
For the first time in samorama.com history, a non wacker choice is leading in the poll! and it's leaning toward Sam'o'Rama. I'll let this one run a few more days and see what happens...

Advice from Slevy:
"never ever let your children grow up in highland park. they'll do things like move across the country and temp for a year before they grow so sick of it that they actively search for a new job."

you wouldn't think it would be so hard
to record from one vcr to another, but it is. took two freaking hours. however, let me say Lane's unorthodox method of cooking frozen steak was right on the money.

I can see clearly now!
That grime on my bedroom window wasn't permanent! It's now ten times brighter in here! There's still one outside portion I can't get to. Anyone with really long arms want to help me?

blah blah blah
I encouraged my mother to watch the Letterman repeat with Wilco on it tonite. She asked if they were a bunch of pierced tattooed guys. My mom is a little out of touch and thinks I'm 14 I guess. I was listening to Crowded House and R.E.M. when I was 11. I've never been into any potentially pierced tattooed bands, assuming she means bands like Kold or Skab or Limp Korn Enema, or whatever.
Happy Memorial Day
I remember some things once in a while.
My new Nephew!
lookit the size of that head! Actually, I'm more scared of the scary purple thing attacking him!

Ryan Adams is a Jerkus
I am not privledged enough to have cmt so Derek provided me with following snippet of dialogue from the recent Ryan Adams/Elton John concert.
" adams: "hey, elton I heard you made tweedy your bitch." elton: "yeah, mate, he's under the piano right now!"
Quote of the Day
"tommorow is spelled tomorrow" - Lane
I played in Peoria at Zach's Bar Mitzvah
Never before have I gotten more comments on a thrift store shirt! A group of guys from Peoria warned me never to go, and then Amy said she had a shirt for her Bat Mitzavah and was from Peoria, and how cool my shirt was.
Discovered Pakistani/Indian joint a block away open til 2 on Friday and Saturday. It could be almost as bad as the Dunkin Donuts.

Happy IML Weekend!
Not that I think any leather guys are reading my page. A male porn star did come in out store and bought...A FART MACHINE!! oh, those porny guys have a sense of humor.
I'm getting totally psyched for the next couple of weeks though. GIANT PARTY next weekend, then Sooz is here for that next Thursday, Bennett/Burch on that Friday, then the Tweedy shows Monday & Wednesday (Consider yourself forwarned). And a cookout tommorow! whee! Filet Mignon and Old Style! Wait, on second though, I'll bring the beef and the beer.
Friday, May 24, 2002
I forgot what I was going to say.
But don't forget the
PARTY!! Email me for details. Did I mention there was going to be a belly dancer? And liquor (and, um, other stuff) provided.
Vanilla Sky:hmmmm
Not as bad as some people made it out to be. Of course, the fact that it had my future husband Jason Lee in it certainly helped.

I'm not going to put it in context either.
FOUND!
Since my harrowing flight from Wisconsin, I believed my extremely rare Factory Records 7" of New Order's "Ceremony" to be lost, to the point of contacting my ex and asking him about it, he said he didn't have it. I started going through all my records, and sure enough, it was INSIDE R.E.M.'s
New Adventures in Hi Fi (the begining of the end for that band anyway). Drew actually had given both to me (he somehow had 2 copies of "Ceremony"). Weird.
PARTY!!!
When: June 1
Where:My place
Why:My Roommate is graduating!
email me if you don't know my addie. I'm seriously supposed to invite everyone I know. Gia the dog is getting a room at a kennel, so don't let that deter you!
I'm getting too old for this
Well, all ages shows at Fireside anyway. Those kids all had way more buttons on their bags than me. The Gossip were pretty rockin' though, even though the foxy lead singer has herpes.

Drunk!
Why does one drink at the Closet with Marilyn always turn into 4? I have comic books to read :(
One Nil versus One All
Almost one year ago I received my copy of Neil Finn's
One Nil from Australia. Today I get the newly released domestic version
One All. There are 2 new songs ("Lullaby Requiem" and "Human Kindness" replace "Don't Ask Why" and "Elastic Heart"). It is resequenced, and some songs reproduced! Why? What was wrong with it in the first place? If this was the version Neil wanted, why didn't he make it in the first place? At this point, I'm so used to the original that this new one sounds all wrong, will I soon grow to love it? I'm so confused.

Network Neighborhood?
Do I
really need that one on my desktop? I mean, besides the fact that it's mermaid avenue...
Wilco nerdiness continues...
When I finish the set I'll put it up in a zip file.
Spring!
I was 41 degrees tonite. Lane and I had a cookout. Whee!!! We also drank some beer, which is why I'm not posting more. My posting ability is impaired. They don't warn on them beer bottles you can't type. I'm finding I type better when not thinking about it. That entire line and this one is all touch typing. Now that I'm thinking it isnt as smooth. I'll stop now.

Why didn't I think of this headline?
Where ThereĆs a Wilco...
there's a Waco? At least in Chicago if Jon Langford shows up.
Quote of the Day
"jay bennett tried to destroy wilco from within...and he worships the devil" -Derek
You know you're a big Wilco nerd when...
you make an icon out of the AM cover to be the "My Computer" Icon on your windows desktop.
Right click and save this if you are nerd enough. I'm working on a whole series. The recycle bin will alternate of ex-members heads, depending on what you throw in it...Max, Ken, Jay...
Oh yeah, saw Caitlin Cary last nite
I will admit to not having any of her solo stuff yet, but since she put up with Ryan Adams for years, I felt like I should support her. She does have a beautiful voice, and it's good to see her in the spotlite, or at least 50 people at Schuba's.
Chihuly!!
Looks like they exended
Chihuly in the Park! It was supposed to end yesterday, and I hadn't gotten to go. It's now going thru September 8, 2002. Two days after my birthday. However, I will not let anyone take me for my birthday. Some of you out there may know why.
Aahhhh Vanilla Coke!

Severe weather Outlook...Correction to time issued
National Weather Service Chicago il
1200 PM cdt/est Sun May 19 2002
For North Central and Northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana...
No severe thunderstorms are expected this afternoon or tonight.
Unseasonably cold air should persist into Tuesday with moderation
there after. A weather disturbance aloft combined with the cold
unstable air and lingering clouds should prevent any widespread
frost again tonight and early Monday morning.
The final phase of the cold air along with a high pressure cell is
forecast to be over the region Tuesday morning. Frost May again be
a threat then.
The cold pattern will moderate after mid week with a chance of
thunderstorms around Thursday. Whether this deveops into a
significant situation remains to be seen but there is no indication
of a sustained above average temperature regime through Memorial Day.

Randomness
I was womaning the dildo counter and this couple walks by. The guy loudly goes "Jesus Christ! Do people really use those things?" I was about to say "Yes, would you like me to tell you where they stick them?" but they moved on.
Sooz crashed Zoe and Zelda Buck's bday party.
I'm trying to decide if I should see Caitlin Cary tonite.
Here comes the neighborhood
Xmike moved in my building, right underneath my room. That makes 1/3 of the staff from the store in this building. I was invited down last nite, but the movie they were watching was
Candyman which I found a little too gross (I'll never look at Cabrini Green the same way again) so I left, with Xmike taunting me for being a pussy or something. Hell, I've been called worse.

Sex Shop Experiment:Spanish Fly
Just to keep me on my toes I put some Spanish Fly in my water. Feeling slightly more spazzy than normal, not necessarily horny however.
Quote of the Day
"Do you guys play Dungeons and Dragons?" (no answer from me) "YOU DO!! You guys are such dorks!" -Kathy, in reference to Xmike & me. Actually, we were GOING to, but our dungeon master moved to Texas. He's trying to start me on Warhammer instead now.
Meow.
Cat-Scan.Com
I don't think they've updated in a while, but it's oh so cute. I'd put Zoya on there, but I think she'd break the scanner.
Star Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Dorks
Let the Jujubees and Sno-Caps on the lap of the guy behind me prove the authenticity of this pic, taken shortly before 12:01 am May 16, 2002.
Open Letter to Lucas
If you
ever call me drunk at 4:22 am again, I will so kick your ass, and the sad thing is you probably don't even remember this. Meow.
Look, I'm posting..at night!
POS is safe and sound, so the sam-o-rama mothership is flying once more! Or something.

Derek is alive!
I got a letter from him. It is so odd communicating by letter with someone. I daresay he is the only person I would take the time to write a letter to, anyway. He said something about coming to Chicago. Getting drunk with Derek on Wacker Drive would be a dream come true!!
Quote of the day
"Do you actually use that word in real life?" - Craig, after I called him a doofus for not seeing Wilco FOR FREE in London. And yes, I do.

Star Wars Episode 2
Do not read if you don't want spoliers.
HOLY SHIT!! Yoda!! Yoda kicks some serious ass! YES!!
Anakin Skywalker:CREEP! Why the fuck would Amidala marry him? I dare you to find one person who was not creeped out by him. I mean, he's got a robot hand now! That's not gonna feel good!
I was interviewed on camera by some organization. I dunno, look out for me on the news or something.
Sloan part 2!
I have to say the Grand Rapids, MI show was way better than the Chicago show. A very enthusiastic crowd, enthusiastic band that got to watch a hockey game beforehand, meeting Neil (hi Neil!), finally meeting Jay, Patrick falling in love with Nicole (well, kind of), Patrick making fun of me mixing British and Canadian terms. Nicole and I should have some great pics soon.

Bennett & Burch @ Laurie's
This was a ton of fun, despite Jay saying Jackie looks like Nelly Furtado. I think he wasn't wearing his glasses at the time. I found it highly amusing that he would interrupt the songs to play other songs, tell stories, etc. Some did not find this highly amusing. I still contend (can I use that word) that this is a great album, and you should definatly seek it out.
SLOOOOOOOOOOOOO-AAAAAAAAN
Last nite at Metro was fabulous. I have no regrets about selling my Belle and Sebastian ticket to see them. Who needs sad bastard music when you've got Sloan singing "G turns to D"? Nicole and I had SUCH a great time, we're off to Grand fucking Rapids to do it again!
Aunt Samorama
My sister Mary has given birth to her first child (with a little help from her husband Chip). It's a boy, Owen Finn Chenery. Hooray for the name! The next one should have the middle name Tweedy. He apparantly has a large head, but is nonetheless quite attractive. Based on speculation, I haven't seen him yet :P Wow, he was born on mother's day, that's almost as good as me being born on Labor Day.

NEIL FINN IS COMING!!!!
Sun-Jul-14-02 Chicago Parkwest
AHHHHHH!!
finally! I will be able to die happily after I see him.
Random Rumblings
POS has been checked into the hospital. I did all I could for her.
Seeing SLOOOOOOOOOAN Saturday, and Jay Bennett & Edward Burch. Woohoo!
My roommate is having a giant graduation party June 1. Everyone I know is apparantly invited to.
Hit me with your best shot
After work last nite went to the Closet with Marilyn, Tickey and Lance, and Aaron happened to be there, so over half the staff from the store was there for my karaoke debut. I chose Pat Benetar's "Hit me with your Best Shot" which was a good choice, as I got three shots while performing. I think I am definatly ready to be a rockstar.

I don't feel good
I think I have the Rockin' Pnuemonia or the Boogie-woogie flu.
Misunderstood lyrics
Someone at work has admitted to thinking the Bee Gee's "More than a Woman" was "Bald Headed Woman". Of course that's up there with "Big ol Jet had a light on".
MMJ ROCKS!!
While the album is beautiful, live these guys (My Morning Jacket) are just totally nuts! GBV kind of bored me, so I went home and watched
Say Anything. Can you believe I hadn't seen that movie since it was in theatres? (Of course, I'm the only jackass who still hasn't seen
Spiderman).

Rosie and the Beaver
Today on Rosie O'Donnell's show she had a wildlife expert with some animals. I took great delight over Rosie cowering and shrieking when they brough out a 50lb beaver. Does anyone else see the irony in that?

Quote of the day pt 2
"in other exciting news, i had to wash my dog's butt a bit ago" -Donna
Guided By Voices with My Morning Jacket tommorow!
I'm actually more excited about seeing MMJ again than GBV. I still recommend their album
At Dawn, it's really amazing.

Everyone in Leather!!
IML (International Mr. Leather) is almost upon us here in the Windy City. This means the town will be besieged with leather daddies. Well, at least our store. We may even get to get all leathered out for work. Woohoo. This wouldn't be a great time for vegans, huh?
Quotes of the day:

Feliz cinco de mayo
Had some Guacamole. Sold some dildos. same ol same ol.
Party..wooo
One thing sucks about getting to a party way late: everyone is already really drunk. I'd say the real fun of the evening for me was: public urination, illegal drug use, and PDA all within or quite near CTA confines. I'm a scofflaw! wheee!!! Actually the real fun was watching a 10th grade school project video. yeaaaaah....

Is mine the only job...
That comes with the knowledge of your co-workers and roommate being a top or bottom?
Way old poll results.
Is Skokie the new Wacker?
yep, it's funnier 4 (16%)
neh 5 (20%)
Wacker 16 (64%)
"Wacker." "long live wacker... " "Wacker? I hardly knew her! "
looks like Wacker will continue to be the funny word for the site. Be sure to vote in the new poll.
Party!
I will apparantly be ringing in Cinco de Mayo at a party tonite. Does this mean I have to drink tequila? How does one ring in Cinco anyway? Are there carols we're supposed to sing? I should look into this.
Why cities rule
when you need donuts at 2:45 am, you only have to walk like 50 yards to Dunkin Donuts.

More Bennett & Burch in Chicago
According to reliable news source Lane (uhhh?), B&B will be appearing at Laurie's Planet of Sound Saturday. He is sketchy with details like time. This is cool though, as I see Sloan late that nite.
Drew & Nicole: you must attend, not only do you get to see them free, you can actually purchase the album, which I am still wholeheartedly recommending.
I'm not a Stalker!
I'm just a fan! I get passionate about things. I go to shows, and I write about it. I've been a music dork since I was 10. ("Music is my savior...") Sometimes I take pictures. Nobody objects. I really adore the band Wilco. I was casually into them until I heard
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot back in August and realized what an amazing band they are. I cannot recommend this album enough. I don't know where the guys live, nor do I care. Carry on!
135 unique hits today...and counting.
where are all these folks coming from? hmmm...
Jeff Tweedy is a jerkus
okay, not really. I just found it very hard to sing along to "Hesitating Beauty" after he mentioned this very site on stage.

Shot in the Arm
Pot Kettle Black
Ashes of American Flags
I'm The Man Who Loves You
How To Fight Loneliness
Heavy Metal Drummer

(talking about samorama.com)
Hesitating Beauty
California Stars
** Second encore **
Red-Eyed and Blue
I Got You
Monday
Outtasite
Otherwise an amazing show. Elliott Smith opened, and was seeming a bit under the weather. I hope he's okay, and we get a new album soon. I think Wilco sounded way more together and full then when I saw them at the Riv in November. Not that they sucked then. There was just more going on this time.
And I must say hello to Amy, who was Elliott Smith fan number one in line. Guess who was Wilco fan number one? Remember kids, I'm just a fan :P

YIPPEEEEEEEEEE!
I'm seeing WILCO tommorow!!
