Pride Parade!
wooohoo, now I have to work tipsy. I drank wine coolers. It's fun shouting out random stuff like "Gay Librarians" and "Dykes on Bikes!". Props to XRT for playing "Heavy Metal Drummer" amidst disco and house music.
Aproximate quote of the day, and now I have hiccups.

Balloon day 2
Gods, yr probably as sick as hearing about it as I am of doing it. I way overslept and had to tack a cab, Tickey was waiting...if we were smart we would have coordinated a cab-pool anyway. My finger are all sore from tying. It LOOKS purty though, and at least I don't have to do it tommorow!
Hopefully heading out to the Country Fest thingy tonite to catch the end of the second stage shows. No, I'm not going for Vince Gill either :P
I'm so tired
and I have to do it all again in 8 hours or so...bleh.

Balloons are up!
only took an hour and half, no human casualties...about 10 or so popped balloons. Not bad. I'll try to get some pics up soon.
It's way too early
I can't remember the last time I was up for the Today show. The owner of the store wants us there an hour early to erect the balloons. ONE HOUR, ha. Stay tuned for the details.
And don't forget...
those references are still available. Did I spell that right?

Xmike is in Boi Magazine!
so go pick one up.
This is so gay
The giant balloon arch is gianter than I expected. It's not just over the door, it spans the store front. I should be okay, but waify Kathy who gets to help me tommorow is probably going to pull a Gonzo and float away.
Anyone who wants a prime spot for the parade on Broadway Sunday drop me a line. we are baracading off the front of the shop and will be having booze and a potluck.
About damned time
I thought the Pledge of Alegeance was unconstitutional the one year of high school I suffered through in the US and refused to say it. Why did it take them this long to figure it out? I would stand with the class, but not say anything.
Today's gay pride celebration saw me hanging with the boys at Roscoes after Delilahs. However I was feeling weird, so I only had a bitters and soda. It made me all burpy. Bartenders should be pharmacists though, I think it helped.
In the next few days we will be assembling a giant rainbow balloon arch. Gods, help me. I suck at tying balloons.

Tag, They're It
Dear gods, Wilco is on
Enterainment Weakly's It list of the 100 most creative people. The swill rag gets props for actualy naming the other three guys in the band, and I guess it's good they weren't named the "it fortysomething sex symbol" like Sheryl Crow. And have their nipples showing and legs spread in the spiffy Anton Corbijn photo, like the afformentioned Ms. Crow. Though I might have bought 2 copies if that were the case.
oops, wrong picture...That's not the spiffy Anton Corbijn photo, is it? And let it be known I stole it from Nut n Hunee's Wilco Archive who actually gives props to the fabulous Jane who runs the Wilco Timeline. I will give credit where due!
I love Christopher Lowell
Now, I can't find it stated anywhere...but I'm pretty sure he's gay. I was watching him way back before he was quite so campy and the show was called
Interior Motives. He could kick Martha Stewart's ass. No wait, she's probably a bit more butch than him.

New Headphones
They're okay...no attachement yet.
R.I.P. My Headphones:Sony MDR-G52- 1999-2002
I was reluctant at first to switch from 'ear bud' style to trendy 'street wrap around' headphones, but immediatley bonded with them. They didn't mess up my hair nor look as stupid as I thought they might. They also sounded pretty good. I'm off to K-Mart after the ceremony for the Sonys. They lost sound in the right ear as I entered the Gerhard Richter exhibit at AIC and switched from Sigur Ros to Gorillaz (I wasn't feeling particularly rock today). They got me through a nasty time in my life, starting with my flight from Jacksonville to Chicago to get to Stevens Point in 1999, through leaving that hell hole and ending up eventually living in Chicago. They kept me company as I commuted one and a half hours each way to Woodfield Mall to work as an asst mgr for my insane boss at Sanrio and on trips to the airport to pick up Sooz. They will be missed.
Happy Birthday George Michael!
In the gay pride week post, I have to say, my mom told me she thought Mr. Michael was gay all the way back in Wham!. I think I have inhereted my mom's gaydar.
Movie review-o-rama
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone-eh. I am so over CGI.
Monster's Ball Halle Berry was great. But I just found the story hard to swallow. Unlike Billy Bob going down on....never mind...
Wednesday!
Party @ Delilahs. If you are there, I will buy you a beer. Or at least a handful of warm nuts.
Dear gods
This here kind of puts it al in to perspective. Yesterday was my sister Mary's birthday. The 22 was my other sister, whom I haven't spoken to since before I left Florida's b-day. Mary asked if I called the other one. I asked her "what should I call her?". Look at the world, it's not all that big. Did you know I've been to 5 continents? Sometimes, I think I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Even when my downstairs neighbors don't want to hang out with me, and just want to borrow my DVDs. I asked my roommate to turn my AC off, and he left it on. It feels great in here though. I have a weekend for the first time in a while. Tonite was my Friday, and anyone who saw me can attest. So, ya'll have a great Tuesday. I may go to the Art Institute and stare at the Pollacks. I love you all though. Anyone who's reading this, you're pretty damn cool in my book.
Oh, except you, what the hell is yr problem?

Quote of the (yester) Day:
"Am I on your buddy list?" -Glenn
Happy Gay Pride Month!
In the week leading up to the big parade this Sunday, I will give you some gay lessons. I'm not gay. Not that there's anything wrong with it! I don't really have a sexual preference actually. anyhoot, here's a gay pride vexilology lesson:
In 1978, Gilbert Baker of San Francisco designed and made a flag with six stripes representing the six colors of the rainbow as a symbol of gay and lesbian community pride. Slowly the flag took hold, offering a colorful and optimistic alternative to the more common pink triangle symbol. Today it is recognized by the International Congress of Flag Makers, and is flown in lesbian and gay pride marches worldwide. In 1989, the rainbow flag received nationwide attention after John Stout successfully sued his landlords in West Hollywood, when they prohibited him from displaying the flag from his apartment balcony. Meanwhile, Baker is still in San Francisco, and still making more flags.
Poll results
Sam-o-rama 610 (42%)
Sam 'o' Rama 211 (14%)
Wacker 614 (42%)
I deicded that since there is evidence of poll tampering, I would let the loser win. Henceforth, sam'o'rama. Look for the new poll shortly.
I am pooped
Saw Robbie Fulks ("Thank you, we're Ryan Adams") and Jay Farrar at Taste of Randolph. Jay sounds great..he just seems a bit stiff on stage though. The Beatles cover was beautiful though.
Then I moseyed over to the Hideout for the Quakebasket showcase. Some interesting noisy bleepy artists (yes you heard the name of the new musical genre here first.) Glenn Kotche along with Darin Gray as On Filmore were very cool. The kind of music you just sit and watch as it happens and knid of slip off somewhere else. Like, in yr head. I don't mean I slipped off the chair and went to the Home Depot or anything.

I take back the mean stuff about the Reckless Records guys
I go in there to buy a CD and tell them I work next door, could I have a discount? They say sure, and start talking about the store, and how some guy came in yesterday with a note asking for chocolate breasts. He went there first, he we supposed to come to our store! Someone from the diner down the road had called us about it and was sending this guy to pick them up. So anydamnhow, I took the guys at Reckless a bag full of chocolate breasts and various condoms and lubes. They were delighted.
Hot in the City, not my bedroom
The yard sale thingy was fun. I bought a few things, and Clare, Dan and I went on an excursion for alcohol, which landed me back in my old neighborhood. Had I known that was where we were going, I would have known there was no liquor. So, no getting drunk before work (where I am posting this now).
It seems to be some sort of Puerto Rican pride weekend. So, viva Puerto Rico, or something.
Going to see Jay Farrar tommorow w/ Robbie Fulks, at Taste of Randolph. I always wondered what Randolph tasted like.
(sorry, that was really bad)

Hot in the City
Wow, it's 90 degrees here today! Although it doesn't feel that hot even though I don't have the AC installed. I should probably try and get that home tonite.
...but if you play "Kingpin" you're sitting somewhere else.
"I'm taking you off my Buddy List, bitch!"
My favorite line from
How High which came highly recommended by Tickey. I don't know if Xmike and I saw quite the amazing social commentary in it that she did, but it was good for a laugh. I only rented it because joined
Netflix where you pick out DVDs you want to rent, they mail you three, then you send them back and get more. This is a lazy stoners dream, as all you have to do is get them back to a mailbox, eventually. No late fees! as many movies as you can watch and return for $20 a month! Hell, I rack up that much in late charges at Blockbuster.
Speaking of Blockbuster:
Scott!! where the hell are you? I am legitimately worried now, and I promise not to bitch you out, just please, get in touch! email, phone, smoke signals, whatever.

I love my boss!
He's actually giving me a paid day off to see Wilco. While I may have grown weary of the sex industry, the people I work with are awesome. Except the person that stole the John Holmes Dildo. that's just weird.
Anti Quote of the Day
"hi samantha" - Lane
Never ever call me samantha, if you want to live. the hi was weird enough
Take 2
My connection died whilst making my last post about not being inspired to write anything witty. Alas the inspiration came from my misfortune with the connection: Damn Hampsters!!
wow, that didn't come off funny at all.
Xmike called from downstairs, he is trying to coerce me into coming down to watch
Mothman Prophesies with a promise of EZ Mac and tater tots. It is tempting.

Hi Y'all
I wasn't online all day monday, as something was up with my phone. Today was a most eventful day, even though it is just now ending on a Monday Tuesday morning. Went to the Hideout, for the second to last Cantina official appearance, and LeRoy and Ed did the closing set. I won't say anything else, for fear of coming off too enquirerish. Nora introduced herself to me, which I thought was pretty sweet. And once again, I must reiterate how much Tim Tutten (and Katie) rule.
um, I stole a powerpuff girls movie sign off the El tonite. please don't tell the transit police.

Nothing to report
I'm all exhausted and living on frozen burritos right now, watching Muchmusic USA. The only thing worth a damn on this channel is "The Wedge". tonite they've shown (old) Sloan, Matthew Sweet and Nirvana.Phantom Planet (you know the band you've only heard about because Jason "Max from Rushmore" Schwarzman is in it.) is hosting. They are the band which has The Hideout in their video. If I ever get married, it will be at the Hideout. Hopefully to Jason Scwarzman. Uh, this post is going nowhere.

"Jerkus" Tweedy meets his favorite webmistress
I think he was a bit nervous at first, but then he realized I was just a person like any other internet superstar, and was able to enjoy himself. He even asked if we could get a picture together, and even though I was beat after watching his nearly 2 hour long concert, I obliged. I can't disappoint my fans.
and becasue some dumbass out there will think I'm serious, I have to put here that I'm not. I really mean to thank him for playing "Poor Places" but didn't even manage that ;P

Wacker Hotel Soxsoff tour part 1 ends
Sooz is back in Seattle for the time being, but will be back soon! It's nice having someone to
stalk follow Wilco around with.
The last 3 days were probably the coolest I can remember. I had so much fun I'm still kind of reeling from it. Pictures tommorow I hope.
OH MY DEAR GODS HE PLAYED IT!
While he (Jeff Tweedy) did actually mention playing "Nein" for two hours (we got 2 versions though, one with Glenn), HE PLAYED "POOR PLACES"!!! All I was able to do was go "gah sigh ung" the whole song. It was fabulous. wow. no, fucking wow. The show was unbelievable. I thought it might be a repeat of Monday, which would have been okay with me, but the vibe was all different. Not as sing alongy, and Glenn for a bunch of songs at the end. The connection they have is amazing. The end of "Reservations" was beautiful. Okay, stick a plug in me and stop the gushiness. BTW - I guess Jeff is not as much of a jerkus as I may have reported. He's an okay guy.

Postcard Field Trip
Actually, we didn't make it to the Field Museum, but wrecked havok on the Shedd Aquarium. Apart from a potential kayak-jacking and staring at a tank for 5 minutes or so to find a seahorse that wasn't in the tank, the day went well. Everyone was suprisingly well behaved, even spreading goodwill to motorists on Michigan Ave at rush hour.
Jeff Tweedy @ Abbey Pub or the most incoherently babbled show review ever
wow. The opening new song was the most brilliant thing ever. The whole show experience was just a ton of fun, hanging out with cool people and hearing amazing music. The YHF stuff sounds great solo. I can't wait to do it again Wednesday. ooh, and John Stirrat was on stage for a few songs. My terrible singing along on "Passenger Side" threw Jeff off, which was kind of cool.

sooznsam Wacker Hotel Soxsoff Chicago Tour day 1
Today saw us at Garrett Popcorn Shop on Michigan Ave, with special guest Clare. We then looked in the window of the American Girl Place store and were completely horrified with the dolls they are marketing to girls! We saw girls in outfits that match their dolls, all clone like! We are going to make our own line of cool dolls, with studded jackets and such.

Sex store experiments #14:Stamina RX
Kathy and I both split a pack of this stuff. While we are both normally horny, we did find within an hour we were hornier than ususal. John says Kathy was Spazzier, but I think she was within normal spazzy parameters. "My genetals are engourged with blood!" she was wildly exclaiming!
TV Family China Patterns
This is another one of those amazing talents I have, the ability to identify china patterns. Today we feature Major Nelson from
I Dream of Jeanie. His table features Franciscan Apple. This pattern has been around for decades, and is currently being made by Johnson Bros. in England.
Only 2 more days!
Til the sooznsam tour begins. Looks like we'll be busking for beer money outside the Beat Kitchen before the Jay & ed show. (yes, I hate to disappoint Al-X, but I'm going with Bland Champagne over Grand Champeen). I have a bad feeling this is going to turn into one crazy week or so.

random'o'rama
I screwed up and asked for the wrong day to pick Sooz up from the airport. Thankfully, I got it fixed.
Maybe I don't want to forget
everything from Saturday nite. I actually have some downright painful reminders :P
Road trip to Madison for Wilco July 31. Even though I swore I would never set foot in that most wretched of states again, except maybe for the Dells.
Vote Tampering?
I'm thinking the loser may have to be declared winner in the poll. I smell a pregnant chad.
feel free to comment

I am going to see Neil Finn, tickets went on sale this morning. I bought two, so some unlucky schmuck out there has to go with me. The only artist still touring I have to see before I die now is New Order.
In other fun news, I got an air conditoner for $10! now I just have to get it home.
