Who the Hell are You?
I know there are people whom I don't know that read this page, for reasons unknown to me. So, introduce yourself! Click on the comments thing and say something. I'm sure yr way more interesting than me.
Quote of the Day
when i stood by her people would come up to me and say, "oh my God, you're larry bird, can i have your autograph!"
then i would say, "I am not larry bird, I just look tall because sooz fokker is short!" -Derek
Last Nite
Saw Tim Easton and part of Dolly Varden @
Schubas. Sooz came directly from the airport, which is impressive.
I am torn between watching Buffy w. Brian tommorow (and he promised miniature golf as well) or dancing on Chic-a-Go-Go.
Oh, and to those nice boys who signed that poster, I miss ya'll too!
Quote of a Couple of Days Ago
"But I thought you were a lesbian! When we were out one time, and I said that girl was cute, you said you did her!" -Justin

Random Scrud
Still no Krispy Kremes.
Something happened in Sooz's building for which grief counseling is being offered.
Going to Schuba's tonite.
I'm a bit sniffly.
Getting up early kind of sux. It's okay when you wake up next to someone though. Especially if it's someone you like.
Rushed back to Sooz's last nite from Tuman's for Perfect Strangers. A Beverly Hillbillys marathon was on. Got cheesecake instead.
What was the newspaper Larry and Balki worked for? The Chicago Chronicle?

Chicago's Best Kept Secret
Kathy told me today that there is a Krispy Kreme in the Loop! It's at LaSalle. They are open 4:30am-10pm m-f and 6am-6pm s-s. Which sux, becasue I am totally jonesing for some, and work til 6pm today!
Brian has deemed Sooz's can opener not fit for human use. Guess we'll get her a new one as a welcome home present.

I'm hungry!
While Sooz is whooping it up in Austin, I have selflessly stayed behind to watch the fish, Wacker and Fokker. However, I can't operate Sooz's can opener. I think it is from Ikea and it is weird and made for right handers. :(

I found my wedding shoes!
I always said I was going to get married in Doc Martens. I am now the proud owner of solid white wingtip docs for the big day.
no, you didn't miss an annoucement, I simply want to be prepared should I find Mr./Ms. Right at any time.

Are you sexually satisfied?
Sexual satisfaction quiz
Are you sexually satisfied?
Youíre totally satisfied
Lucky you. Enviably relaxed about sex, you know you and your partnerís hot spots intimately. This doesnít mean sex is run-of-the-mill. Itís warm and intimate and rarely routine ñ simply because you communicate easily and freely. Okay, you may rely on a repertoire of favourite sexual shenanigans, but theyíre what turn you on. And if it ainít broke, donít fix it.
Whatís hot: your fun and playful approach to sex. Your ability to express what you want ñ and willingness to listen.
Whatís not: sorry, but youíre simply sizzling all over.

Fa Shizzle
These new eclipse ads on the CTA have really got my goat. I was wondering what the fuck "Fa Shizzle" was, and it's apparantly a lyric from a Jay-Z song.
Well, it wasn't TOO painful
After all the rumors, Sooz and I checked out the
Hideout tonite. "Jack Sweeny" was indeed there for the open mic. But, hot damn, Neko Case and Kelly Hogan each did a couple songs! The jugglers of death totally rule.

OH NO!!!
My Morning Jacket has signed to Dave Matthew's label. As long as he has nothing to do with their albums, I guess we're okay :(
Sooz n I are ALLEGEDLY going to the Hideout tonite.

Hideout Block Party!
Got drunk, enjoyed all the bands outside (Kelly Kessler & Wichita Shut Ins, Kelly Hogan, Jimmy Martin)...moved inside around ten and found the other half of the Kung Pow foursome where we awaited LeRoy and Ed. Well that was interesting! They played their set following a hug between LeRoy and Jay Bennett who was in the crowd. Jay threw a paper airplane on stage saying "Play something Ed and I wrote". They did play "talk to me", which they have played on Monday nites. LeRoy left the stage for a bit, and Ed got Jay up on stage. Jay asked LeRoy if he could play his guitar, which he did let him, after complaining about the tuning Jay kept inviting up LeRoy back on the stage, but he wouldn't go. We got an interesting set from them with "Shaking Sugar" and a handful of covers including My Morning Jacket's "Phone Went West".

Was I In Your Dreams?
I had this dream that Sue Miller sent me three mylar Barney balloons that light up for my birthday on behalf of the Tweedy family. Then, I tried to call Brian to tell him about it and my phone wouldn't dial his number.
I am going to NOT listen to Wilco for a week, at least.
(LeRoy, please don't talk to me tonite. It's for my own good :( )
take me out to the brawlgame
go sox!

Still alive, with limited computer access...I can't wait to permanantly move! Going to the Hideout tommorow after work for the big Block Party...well, sort of the pre-block party, which will be just as cool.

New Stuff You Won't Buy Anyway
These are just a few of the spiffy new products in
SHOP-O-RAMA. The holidays are coming up, and the mugs are on sale!! buy now!!
We had Taco Bell
need I say more?
I'm thinking of auditioning for a reality show on TLC. I have never really watched a reality show. I've decided I'm going to make a living making things out of flatware, participating in online focus groups, and being on tv. I'm 26 now, I need some direction in my life.

Nothing!
Accomplished nothing today but running Sooz's dishwasher. Hope this means she'll cook for me tonite ;)

Wow! Wilco on MTV2!
To my surprise they announced a Wilco video coming up on MTV2's 120 Minutes last nite. It was for "Jesus, Etc". It was mostly stuff from the movie, and other clips. I have to say (While I am not this shallow myself of course) this video really makes LeRoy out to be the sex symbol of the band. He should anticipate lots of screaming TRL girls after him.
quiet nite at home
Sooz n I had chinese food peanut butter bumpers rather than hang w. rockstars @ the hideout. We are probably better off ;)
I can vouch for him, I swear.
Attempted to get a passport with Xmike today. They said he didn't have proper valid ID and such, even though he had me along to vouch that I have known him over two years...BASTARDS!

I guess we won't get to feel him sweat!
Brian and I got second to last row in the balcony for Beck @ the Chicago Theatre! I guess it's better than nothing.
Last nite's Handsome Family show was really rad though, they played some old stuff.
Hideout tommorow nite...should be interesting.

and more
Went to Buddies w/ Lance, Xmike and Brian. Xmike has a hookup there who makes these really crazy margaritas that got me rapidly tipsy.
Marilyn kept calling me from the Rolling Stones concert...I beleive I heard "Midnight Rambler".
Clare showed up half an hour early today to go out for lunch. Sometimes it's just hard to hear on a cellphone.
Am going to attmept to make it to the Abbey tonite for the Handsome Family.

Random crud
Listening to the new Rhett Miller. Dear gods, I miss Old 97s. I will give this one more try, but I ain't holding out much hope. At least his career as a fashion model should be okay.
Going to see Freakwater 2nite, if not sold out?
Carnberry Twist Snapple is okay, the best new flavors are the lime green tea, and the cherry tea.

Are you boring in bed?
take the test!
You Have Porn-Star Potential
There are few things you haven't tried, and those you haven't -- you just haven't gotten to yet. Nothing is too awkward or unusual for you, and your lovers have been both excited and surprised in the past. Even if you've never heard of it or can't pronounce it, you are more than willing to give it the old college try. Take care that you are not using sexual excitement as a panacea for other issues and that you aren't putting yourself into possibly risky situations. Exciting is good, but you don't want to get hurt. Have fun...and don't forget to buckle your handcuffs!
ooh, weather advisory!
Statement as of 12:00 PM CDT on September 10, 2002
For north central and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana
There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. A cold front will move through northern Illinois and northern Indiana this afternoon. The air has warmed into the middle and upper 80s and dewpoints remain in the mid and upper 60s. The atmosphere is sufficiently unstable for scattered to numerous thunderstorms to develop along the front. Mid level winds across the Great Lakes will enhance thunderstorm development... especially north of Illinois and Indiana. A few severe thunderstorms are possible with the main threat being damaging winds in a squall line or Bow echoes. There is also a threat for hail.
I'm alive!
Hiding out in the burbs today. Last nite went to Big Bowl w/ Clare, Meghan, Sooz n Brian and had foofy drinks. I didn't get an umbrella, however. Sooz managed to get one. She is the master umbrella getter! I am in the midst of enjoying two days off...ahhh...
(I'll try to find some intersting stuff to post today, I swear!)

nuthin' to report.
Just a regular run of the mill weekend as an old person. I can barely keep up with Brian, he's a spring chicken compared to me. It's amazing how much difference 3 months makes.
Saturday, September 07, 2002
dear gods, I'm old :(
The gathering was a blast though. I don't think anyone was too drunk, stuff was allegedly thrown off the balcony though. And Xmike got Easy Cheese in my hair!

PARTY!
Sooz has graciously agreed to host my birthday extravaganza at her pad, as mine doesn't have anywhere to sit. so it's FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 6 around 10ish. I don't have everyone's email, so if you don't have my number please post in the comments w/ yr email addie and I'll get the info to you on where Sooz's is if you don't know.
"Thank you, Samantha, for bringing proper identification."
Spent Labor Day weekend with Sooz, Chokk n Brian way the hell on the otherside of the continent. For the first time in nearly ten years I flew to another city for a purpose other than death or institutionalization. Got to ride in the french fry burning Fokkermobile all the way from Seattle to Beautiful downtown BC. Noticed at the border that the grass was way greener on the Canadian side. We all went to see Wilco Saturday nite after a Canadian junkfood run. Sooz n I got a little tipsy due to the fact that they put more alcohol in their cider there. The set was great, the new slow song was beautiful. The set was a little mixed up, so it kept us on our toes. It was also cool to see Karla there.
Spent the next day exploring. Brian and I sat out the concert after he tried to kill me by making me go across some crazy suspension bridge. I recovered, and we were soon running around getting lost.
Got up early Monday morning to get back to Seattle in time for the Wilco performance @ Bumbershoot. After some hassles at the border, we got there in plenty of time to catch the soundcheck. Heard a handful of really awesome sounding new songs. The show itself was great...but who picked that setlist? :P Caught a bit of the Mekons, so I felt right at home. Ran around a bit in the rain, then caught Michelle Shocked which was a lot of fun. Then, as if that wasn't enough for one day, we hightailed it over to the Tractor Tavern for the Blue Ponies (aka Buddy & Julie Miller) who were fabulous.
I feel like I need a vacation from the vacaction!
Big ol' post coming soon!
I promise!!
BIRTHDAY GATHERING!

Holy crap, eh!
Posting from Casa Fokker in Seattle. What a kickass past few days full of Canada, Wilco and other amazing music in Seattle. As it's late, and we're tired, I'll fill you in on the details later. But we are all alive, and well!
