Trick or Treat!

There is mandatory dress up at work. If I can't find anything, I'll just wear my pajamas. I know, that's kind of a cop out, but my Sailor Neptune (or Sailor Wet Poon as Xmike so gracefully put it) costume is waaaay skimpy. So, for the thrill of yr life, stop in the store tonite and see me in my pink flannel powerouff girl pjs...you only have a few days left to get yr discount ;)

R.I.P. Jam Master Jay

It just sucks that someone from a group that wasn't all about killing and shit was killed, while he was making music. I'm not saying it would be any better if Eminiem was killed or anything, just this seems so ridiculous. These guys rapped about Santa Claus!

where do I start?

You have until Sunday to get yr orders in for sex items. Yes, I am quitting the sex store for something completely different.

I have a date with a girl friday nite, who I have not told ANYTHING about this site. Thus, leaving the door open for me to comment about it. Wahoo! Who pays when 2 girls go out, anyway?

I think I'm going to the dead rock star party as Kristen Pfaff, since the whole grunge revival is going down now. If only I still had my old babydoll dresses.

I buckled, and had some chicken tonite. So I'm changing this to "no BEEF week".

It ain't me babe

I would like to thank the kind samorama reader for alerting me that it sounded like someone was being me in Playboy magazine. No, not posing, but this site which details the adventures of a girl who works in a porn store in Chicago. This girl actually works down the street from me, in more of a video store. I of course, work in an upscale adult boutique. I did enjoy the pictoral of Miss Dita von Teese though.

I guess I should share a hilarious work story now though. In our front case where we keep little stuff like ben wa balls and vibrating pens and keychains, we have some small rubber mice for Halloween decorations. I'll be damned if once a day someone doesn't ask "oh, what are those mice for?" It's always fun making them feel really stupid.

Right this way, Wacker

What a day in Champaign. Started out at the Cracker Barrel (decided against Crab Rangoons). They have sweet iced tea there, hot damn! Then we simply hung around the lovely idyllic UI Campus until show time.

Sure, there was some incidents involving drinking, smoking and head lice, but details are a little hazy.

The show itself was great! It was amazing to hear the whole band on "Poor Places" for the first time. I don't know about reserved seating at a Wilco show. I really tried.

Anyhoot, here's what they played:

War on War
IATTBYH
Kamera
Radio Cure
Sunken Treasure
Shot in the Arm
How to fight Loneliness
Not for the Seasons
Jesus, Etc.
Heavy Metall Drummer
Red-eyed and Blue
I Got You
Always in Love
I'm the man who loves you
Poor places
Reservations

Encore 1:
Hestitating Beauty
One By one
California Stars
Misunderstood
Far, far away

Encore 2:
I'm a Wheel
We've Been Had
Casino Queen
Outtasite (Outta Mind)

Skele-Tons of Fun

Well, that was some party! Everytime it seemed like there was no more booze, there was more! Costume parties are fun, becasue the people who aren't in costume give you werid looks.

However, I woke up this morning and looked like I had been attacked by a vampire.

And more party!

Clare is having her dead rock star party the weekend after halloween. I am trying to decide who to be. Maybe Cassie Gaines from Lynyrd Skynyrd, she was one of the backup singers. Of course nobody will know who the fuck I am. Looks like most of the chicks have jumped on Mama Cass. Er, dressing as her, not literally jumping on her. Should be fun though. I just have to geta good enough picture of her to see the fabulous 70s clothes she wore.

on another subject: someone on the bus was eating hot sauce on pringles...hmmm....

I'm getting psyched for Tickey's party Friday. I get to drag my Sailor Neptune outfit out of the mothballs. I haven't been really damn drunk in a long time either. anyhoot, past few days: saw Beck and the Flaming Lips and Songs:Ohia w. Damien Jurardo. Both were amazing in different ways.

The Kumg Pow Foursome will be in Chamapagne. Say hi. I guess we don't have any excuse to sit in front of the venue eating rangoons since it's reserved seating, but we probably will since we know no other way.

(yes, I'm fine...)

Kitty sitting for Sooz...I managed to over complicate the litter box, but I think it's okay now. Judge has become pretty chummy with me!

more Bali news

Many JIS/JES alumni have contacted faculty and others at the school
expressing concern and seeking information about last weekend's attack at
what for many is a familiar nightspot in Bali. At this point in time, we can
convey only the following news: JIS High School teacher and rugby coach
Jamie Wellington is reported missing. Jamie was at Sari on Saturday night
with his teammates from the International Sports Club of Indonesia who had
traveled to Bali for a weekend rugby match. Efforts to locate Jamie will
continue and, in the meantime, our hopes and prayers are with Jamie's
family. We will keep you informed as further information becomes available.

We know of no alumni who were victims of the blast, however, if you have
information that can be shared with the community, please don't hesitate to
let us know. We can take some solace in the fact that, had the attack on
Sari been executed one week later, it would no doubt have resulted in
dramatically increased causalities in the JIS community as we will be on
October break beginning next weekend. Please note that many of the victims
are Indonesians. With critical care and medicines in limited supply in Bali,
a number of people in the community are requesting information on how they
can help. If you would like more information, please contact:
balihati@indo.net.id.

This terrorist attack on the tranquil island of Bali is a great tragedy for
all of Indonesia. We share with you our sorrow at the travesty, and our
prayers for a future of global peace and mutual understanding among all.

Please check on jisalumni.com for further updates.

What with the shootings in DC being in my sister's neck of the wood and Kuta in Bali getting blown up. I'm going to burn my bra and smoke pot and run around singing songs.

hmm. doesn't sound much different from what I do now.

on a lighter note...sooz and I (hopefully if i get it off) will be heading to Champaign to harrass the Wilco boys. That should make me feel better.

Bring in the Plants!

A large high will settle over the Midwest tonight. Cold air accompanying the high combined with clear skies and light winds will drive temperatures below freezing in north central and northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to around 30 across the area.

A freeze warning is issued when freezing temperatures are forecast to threaten outdoor plants. Tender vegetation will be affected by the low temperatures. Potted plants normally left outdoors should be covered or brought inside.

Ugh.

Bali death toll soars - Oct. 12, 2002

Some of you may not know, but I went to high school in Jakarta, and we would go to Kuta in Bali for Spring Break. I think Sari Club was the first place I got drunk there, actually, with a comfortable screw. While there are so many tragedies right now, this one really gets me down. I'm just greatful it wasn't during spring break when the kids from my school would be there, or when everyone was there for the reunion in June.

Mmmm, Hen soup.

I will not be asking for a recipe for this one. Ever notice how there's nothing but kinda weird food around Martyrs? Columbian chicken restaurants, which run out of chicken, that place that serves bear, buffalo, etc...Hen soup consists of stuff that isn't supposed to be in soup: Corn on the cob, hen on the bone, half a plantain. My pinto beans (and the Todd Snider show) were excellent though.

On a mission to get the new Richard Bucker today, and hang out with Sooz for the welcome one of her kitties to the city party. Brian already got the Buckner, it's really good from what I heard while, um, falling asleep?

Weird dreams

So after I make that squirrel post, I have a dream that I am attacked, well, maybe not attacked, but visited by a puppy and a beaver. And Xmike was in the dream too for some reason. Anyone care to interpret this one?
