Happy New Year, etc

And happy birthday to Clare, who Sooz and I are joining in the woods tonite.

If you read about a gaggle of girls disappearing in the woods and never hear from us again, you'll know why.

Last nite was one of those wacky nites @ the Hideout. I shouldn't have even gone, but I'm glad I did. Sometimes it's worth only 2 hours of sleep :)

Even I'm Confused now

I am considering moving in with Xmike and Becky (A different Becky than my current roommate Becky). This would be in the old building I lived in 2 prior to my current one. I'm going to get a map of the city and some pins and plot this out. This would put me back @ the Loyola Red line stop.

these people need to stop dying!

Joe Strummer was bad enough...the Clash didn't have a huge personal impact on my life, but I was fond of their music, but now Herb Ritts has died. I fancied myself a photographer in my younger days, and he along with Annie Leibowitz was one of my favorites. I had the poster of Madonna's True Blue album cover hanging up forever. Strummer and Ritts were both 50...weird.

I had been threatening to do it...

so I finally shaved my head. I was annoyed with my hair. now I have none. Take that hair!! of course, having a job where you have to where a hat makes it okay. I may get a wig, I've always wanted like blonde Pamela Anderson hair or something.

Workers Comp!!

I was injured on the the job today! And no, it didn't involve hot coffee as most predicted...I was trying to move some crates and just managed to go flying spectacularly. The witness, my coworker, did note for the incident report that I had the proper lifting procedure as he watched it all go down. If you see me in the next week or so, ask to see the knot on my shin.

You are -

Penny Lane!

To you, it's not about being near famous people, it's about the music. But you wouldn't mind if there was a song or two written about you...Even if your boyfriend DID sell you to Humble Pie for fifty bucks and a case of Heineken.

White Xmas

Met up with Xmike @ Delilah's last nite and it was snowing like a mofo! Had a few $2 Jackncokes then made our way to his place, my old place. Then went to another bar and were going to take some lamps, but they were gone when we left. Woke up this morning to Santa's bounty and were generally lazy and ate and drank all day with Garrett. Did get to see Chic-a-go-go though. Xmike's "white trash casserole" was not as bad as I feared it would be.

Oops I forgot!

The Chic-a-go-go featuring Theresa and I airs TONITE @ 8:30pm and again tommorow @ 3 or 3:30pm.

The New Years one with Tim and Katie from the Hideout and some other club folks airs next week, NYE and New Years Day, same time.

And for a change...

...I'm not moving, but the roommate I never saw is! If anyone is looking for an apt that is like 2 minutes from the Blue Line Western Stop and pretty cheap drop me a line!

Forget the Bush/Gore Vote Problems

Tensions are running high on the Frito question.

"Wacker's open. yeehaw. i saw a sign on state street w/ two men giving each other a high five announcing the opening. however, fritos suck so i voted no"

"Fritos are awful. Evolution has hit the corn chip. Fritos are the Cro-Magnan Man of snack foods."

"join the united wacker front--made up of upper and lower wacker, plus the elusive underground wacker where your car gets towed to."

I'm home!

Well, Samorama.com should get you here now anyway. Seems like there's a problem with the commenting thing that makes it a bit slow to open, but oh well. One day everything shall all work together in peace and harmony or something.

Sooz is back in Seattle for Xmas, I'm making sure the kitties have a good holiday. we shall prepare our figgy pudding in a few days.

Interesting Poll!

The wacker lobbyists have united and tried to push wacker ahead, but the yes votes are edging out slightly. This could shape up to be a tense poll.

Saw Glenn Kotche on drums with Josh Abrams,Kent Kessler and Jason Roebke all playing basses. It was pretty damn different yet cool. Good spaceout music.

And no, we didn't play that fucking song on the jukebox! :P

Happy Anniversary!!!

It was waaaaaaaaaaaay back last December 14th when samorama (then merely http://crunchpop.tripod.com) was launched. I never thought anyone but my two or three closest friends would be interested in what I have to say about me, my life and the things I love, but lo and behold...an average of 60 people a day check in. Well, they also come thru Google searches for Wilco downloads, which I don't really have. Where it now has the quote by Jeff Tweedy it used to say "Jeff Tweedy's Favorite Website (based on speculation)", which I guess is funnier, but whatever.
Thanks to everyone who makes my life more interesting and gives me shit to talk about. I wouldn't be nearly as interesting without you all in it.

Sam @ 11:36:00 PM| 0 comments

Sam is illin.

thanks sooz. Aw well, at least she shared the theraflu as well, and hopefully I got the Zicam in time.

Wow, the thing at second city was increadible and fun. Tweedy came out and sat in a chair about a foot away from us and played the fuck you like a millionaire song, Bob Dylan's 49th Beard, a new song about a bee and Passenger Side featuring a great guest vocal by Bill. No mics, no amps. He also told a story about his kids at dinner while the second city folks improved between the songs. He sounded great despite not sounding like he felt well from what he said. I kinda lost it during Bob Dylan's Beard. It was intensely moving. And

And there was a charity auction for Tweedy to write you a song! I wonder who won that?? ;) The winner (and his 'gang') got to go up and be in a skit about FIREMEN of all things (Dick, you so should have been there!!)

Robbie Fulks played today and tore things up with Let's Kill Saturday Night, Fuck This Town, God Isn't Real and Abba's Dancing Queen. And the comedy was all pretty damn funny to boot.

Wah-fucking-hoo!

The positive thing about working @ Starbucks and having to open when you were out kinda late is you can have 8 shots of espresso in 3 hours and get WIRED.

Heading to the Second City thing which one Jeff Tweedy is reported to be a part of. Managed to convince Theresa to play hooky so she could go to. Er wait, maybe I shouldn't have publically said that.

After running around all nite purchasing raw materials for xmas gifts a Kung Pow Threesome hung at the H/O last nite. Ed showed up with Jay Bennett, but we were all a bit sleepy, and if they played, we missed it.

anyhoot.

Insert loud screaming noise here

Things could always be worse. I could be dead or something. Why are there just sometimes too many options presented to you and you just don't want to do anything with any of them. You just want to sit back and turn yourself off for awhile, or have your mom pick out what you're gonna wear.

Shows that you don't watch anyway

Why do shows that nobody is really a fan of, ie Caroline in the City, Suddenly Susan, and Dharma and Greg make it in to syndication when they could be showing classics everyone loved ala Punky Brewster, Perfect Strangers, Small Wonder, etc?

and oh yeah, the Kung Pow Foursome appears to be making a field trip to San Francisco to see some band play. Details to come.

Damn, i'm exhausted.

Top 5 New York things:

5.Seeing Rupert Gee at the Hello Deli. I was too freaked out to say "hello" or order any food though.
4.Seeing what we believe to have been the diner used on the exterior shots on Seinfeld.
3.Meeting cool people from Postcard and Via Chicago
2.Fulfilling some random stranger's wish of making out under the bleachers (after a Loose Fur concert no less!)
1.Seeing Loose Fur! the shows were really incredible, more fun that I thought they would be. The songs all sounded great, and even when Jim O'Rourke was singing it held my attention!

And I would be remiss if I didn't thank everyone who made it possible for me to get there and be there, you all know who you are, thanks a TON! Now we have to work on getting me to San Francisco ;)
