aw shucks...
I don't normally bring stuff over from the comments, but here goes:
Sam-o-jama-rama,
I never use the internet, I live in the 19th century, but I thought I must see this site. How can the two of us be in the same room so many times, and never talk so long to each other that we both fall on the floor in drunken stupors. I had no idea about this site, until fairly recently. I just thought that you were a really nice person, then I see this and just laugh my ass off, and feel like I was missing something all these years. Is it so wrong to say, "You rock!" ~Tim Tuten
fixin' a hole
Trying to fix the archives, manually, and the comments now seem to work okay (they didn't work well on a mac...weird!). of course, none of this is showing up and none of this is what you wanted to hear anyway.
Yes, I've been in turmoil lately. However weird things happen like getting those Neil tickets from the kindness of a stranger to getting a really nice email from someone on the other side of the world to finding a wacker pin that you gave to someone and really wanted back to give to someone more special (uh sooz, remind me I have something for you...)
I realized that stuff doesn't matter. I ran out of my old apt tonite with my TV (I guess I must maintain some materialistic trappings) and two boxes full of the important stuff from the last year or so. and a bag of clothes that I like. if I never see the rest of the stuff again, I think I'll be okay. I can get rid of the teddy bear that that guy I lived with for 2 years gave me, and it was like the only thing he ever gave me. People and music, and sadly, clothes. I think that's all I need. and that fuzzy pink blanket Clare gave me for my birthday. the rest is just dishes and lotions that smell good.
However, in doing this for the 6th time, I wonder what's up with the people who got me here in the first place...I miss them, and I know they read this, I won't even ask for moving help...just a what's up...
I'm working on the matching issue...

He should take a musical hint from Winona too
"Gremlins" Star Busted
Fri Jan 24, 5:00 PM ET
By Josh Grossberg
He didn't obey the ones about keeping his pet Mogwai away from water, exposing him to bright light or feeding him after midnight in 1984's Gremlins.
However, Gremlins' snuggly carnage is nothing compared to the actor's current legal woes. The star of director Joe Dante's comic horror hit was arrested Wednesday for attempting topilfer a Deep Purple CD from a West Hollywood Tower Records store.
Galligan, 38, was nabbed by store security in the Tower parking lot on the Sunset Strip after he allegedly pocketed the disc and walked out without paying for it.
"He was observed by security placing the compact disc in his person," said Los Angeles County sheriff's sergeant Bruce Thomas. "After he concealed it, Galligan walked out of the store at which time store security then detained him...then handcuffed him and took him back inside."
The thespian was then transferred into police custody and taken down to the local sheriff's station where he was booked on a petty theft shoplifting charge and released four hours later.
"It was a routine shoplifting arrest. We do 'em all day, every day," Jay Smith, Tower's general manager, told the Associated Press. "We had no idea who he was until after the fact. We don't single anybody out."
After his arrest, Galligan did own up to his boneheaded move, reportedly telling deputies, "This is stupidest thing I've ever done."
Now he'll have to explain to the district attorney why he didn't just buy the disc in the first place since, according to Thomas, he had the money and credit cards in his wallet to do so. (Is he hoping his sticky-fingered bust will result in some Winona Ryder (news)-worthy coverage from the press?)
After his successful launch with Gremlins, Galligan went on to appear in over 30 unmemorable films, including the 1990 sequel Gremlins 2: The New Batch and made the rounds of the guest-star circuit on several TV shows including Seventh Heaven and Star Trek: Voyager. He also starred in the Broadway production of Biloxi Blues.
No word when he's due in court.

Heading out on Supersecret agent business with a couple Starbucks Travel Mugs and a thermos full of booze.
with any luck, I'll be @ Bennett & Burch @ Fitzgeralds by tonite.
The Sadies & Jon Langford,The Sadies, and Waco Brothers @ Abbey Pub
This is one of the few shows that would drag me out in 8 degrees unsure if I was getting a ride home. It was warm in there though dammit. Hell, Nan Warshaw started a mosh pit! I've never seen a mosh pit at the Abbey. Good times!!

...Wind Chill Advisory For Tonight And Thursday Morning Remains In Effect...
Overnight temperatures between five above and five below zero combined with moderate northwest winds will create wind chills between 15 and 30 below zero.
A Wind Chill Advisory is issued when winds combine with cold temperatures to create dangerously cold conditions for exposed skin. Those planning to venture outdoors tonight or Thursday morning should dress for the conditions... making sure that all exposed skin is covered. Exposure of skin at these wind chill levels may result in frostbite in a short period of time.

Wilco in SF pics
From the Wired Awards Thingy (click the pic)
From the Great American Music Hall (again, click the pic...)
Sooz, yr cat is kinda insane.
He knocked over a bag of cat food. He knocked a pizza off the counter. He goes BOLTING out the door just to lie in front of it, not like run around or anything. I guess he misses you? He is the reason I will not be at the airport to meet you for the last official time you come from Seattle.
...but he's just so damn sweet.

RIP Golden the Hamster
Golden was the best hamster I knew. I mean, hamsters aren't usually endearing, but this one was. Cuddly, and not at all annoying like those dancing one. I wish I could have made it to New Mexico for the service.
Like, duh.
Having worked at 5:30 this AM, I came home (well, to the hotel fokker) and napped. Put on my pj's and meant to wake up in an hour. Clare calls at 6:45 or so, and I thought it was the AM, and I'm like "Holy shit, I'm late for work!!!!" then like "wait, why would clare call me before noon?"
duh. So we had Chinese, well I had Chinese and they had sushi, and then we had a tea party. I have never had a real tea party where tea was dranken. drinken, drank. hmm....

HOT DAMN!
Avril Lavigne is coming to Chicago! thank the gods, I am so over Wilco. Their lyrics just aren't edgy enough for me anymore. Has anyone seen my necktie and tube socks? I am going to go line up for tickets! Now if only she would tour with John Mayer or Pete Yorn I could die happy!

Why am I ignoring my type 2 diabetes?
Or so a letter my mother received at her home in Jacksonville wants to know. It was addressed to me, sent to her address, which I have never lived at, wanting to know why I have not gotten any help for my type 2 diabetes. She was very concerned and wanted to know was up. I honestly don't know. I have not been diagnosed with anything. There is apparantly a clinical trial going on about it that I might qualify for though. hmmm....
Let's play Sam-o-rama or Liv Tyler!
Reading Jane Magazine on the way home, I was amazed at the similarities between myself and actress/famous daughter Liv Tyler. Why, some of those things could have come out of my mouth! I now present to you a list of quotes from Sam-o-rama or Liv Tyler. First person to correctly identify who said what in the comments wins a fabulous prize to be determined later.
1.I'm hosting a fabulous soiree with a keg and champagne and little weenies.
2.I love firemen, I have my whole life.
3.I'm all about endearing immaturity and/or sweet-natured dorkiness.
4.I'd rather have real relationships than sit around yapping with a bunch of celebs.
5.I Went to Target in pursuit of floor pillows. They didn't have them! Do people NOT use them anymore?
6.The bedroom is cozy, the kitchen lacks functioning major appliances, and my stereo is a Playstation, but what the hell! I'm having a good time, and that's what matters!
7.Stay up late, go to that movie, eat that cheeseburger, go on that trip-because that's all that matters.
8.Walk around with a box of leftovers and refer to it as "the microfilm".
9.I am such a cornball and love the Olympics!
10.Nobody's cool, tough and strong all the time.
Caliornia Stars pt 2 or She Lifted Up Her Shirt or Hi My Name is Hanky Nothhart or Coming Home Via Chicago
wow, last nite was awesome! We got to attend the Wired Rave awards party which featured a full performance by Wilco. oh yeah, and an open bar! I managed to imbibe 5 Stoli & Cranberries (yes, I specified Stoli...I guess I should have gone for Grey Goose but that's way trendy) in the 45 minutes or so between doors opening and the boys hitting the stage. Decided that this was the nite to act out the line "She lifted up her shirt at the battle of the bands" since there really weren't many other Wilco fans there and I wasn't going to see 99% of those people again. For my troubles, Jeff lifted up his shirt for me. He seems to think I am the first person to ever actually do it.
I think it was a better show than the Great American Music Hall show the nite before, but that could just be because I was a bit tipsy. It seemed to rock out a bit more, and they were having fun. I mean, they were all prepared to leave the stage then LeRoy got ahold of the power drill...
anyhoot, thanks again to everyone involved for making this happen. see you soon.

hello from a random SF internet cafe!!
Killing time til tonite's festivities. I should stay here all day getting drunk and posting. whee!
California Stars
well, I finally heard California Stars in California.
The show itself was a great time, and so was the uh, seven hours we spent in line? Paul was there to be my drinking and Frito buddy which helped the time to pass. It was cool as always to meet some of the people I've talked to on various internet sites, including Rob who came all the way from my home town of Jacksonville, Florida to see Wilco!
a
huge thank you to everyone involved who made it possible. you know who you are.
now, it seems I'm still in San Francisco for an extra day? Hmmm, I wonder what we'll do tonite??
Saturday, January 11, 2003
we made it!
three of the foursome made it to san Francisco so far!
I watched the Banger sisters on the flight. Heh.
Hit Haight with our gracious hostess Uyen, and enjoyed her yummy cupcakes. Tried to figure out what I should buy for Bill and Lori there...tie dye socks or something?
Amoeba Records is definetly on my short list of music stores, I still love Manifest in Columbia, SC though ;)

Reflections on the three shows
It was cool because they were all different. I still think Monday was my favorite as far as it being a solo show, but Thursday was exciting just because the rest of the band played. Wednesday was cool though, as I got to stand next to an extremely excited 15 year old girl who loves Wilco, and got to see Jeff live for the first time. It was as much fun watching her as Jeff. Her interpretive dance to Heavy Metal Drummer was something else.
anyhoot, must gather stuff, wash clothes and pack, off to San Francisco for the last Wilco show before they head to another hemisphere. I wish everyone could go :P

A few pics from last year
Sooz makes a snow angel during the first snowfall of 2002.
Wow, times square, it's all neony.
Jeff Tweedy playing w. Loose Fur (photo by sooz)
Yay!
The Jeff Tweedy solo in a large venue was not as cruddy as I thought it would be! He played such a cool eclectic mix of old and new songs...it wasn't just some big sing along. Though the sing along on California Stars was pretty damn okay. Of course, the party in front of the Vic was as much fun as the show. James and I went to the Hideout afterwards...I figured if I had to be to work at 5am I should just go for broke and get as little sleep as possible. It was cool seeing Paul again, a VCer we met in NY. (dude, you really need to go to SF, and thanks for keeping track of the setlist!)

Spring Cleaning
Have decided samorama is looking old and tired and like everyone elses thing like this, so I will be redoing the look. So don't freak out if it looks different soon.
exhausted!
Wow, after going to work @ 5:30 am, then dancing on Chic-a-go-go and grocery shopping I am EXHAUSTED! Look for Sooz and I @ the end of the month in an amazing fantasy dance where we beat each other up and then she flew like superman...woman i guess.

WAHOO!!
My "genxscope" from yahoo:
Single Virgos may meet a real dreamboat today, while attached ones may find reason to fall in love all over again. Definitely set aside some time for love, romance or, at the very least, heavy-duty flirtation.
okay, time set aside starting now.
IM away!
My apologies
To the person who clicked on samorama as the result of a search on "Cracker Barrell Green Beans". I didn't post the recipe, I found it somewhere else. Boy, are they TASTY though.
Look for my next stolen recipe: 7 layer Frito Dip.
(What difference does it make, all my content is stolen, right?)
Adaptation
Damn. I'm still reeling. Go see it.

All is Quiet on New Year's Day
Sooz and I chilled, well, she cooked a lovely dinner that I ate...I peeled the potatoes though. Found Pez Sours at Walgreens which was quite exciting.
Ooooh...Chic-a-go-go taping this Saturday from 3-6pm.

New Year's Rockin' Eve
We decided against the woods and went to the Beat Kitchen for Pedal Steel Transmission (wow, they have some enthusiastic fans!) and
Andrew Bird's Bowl of Fire aka the sexiest man alive according to the ladies room wall at the Hideout. While much swooning was done, Sooz and I were both tired and didn't make it much past midnite, so we went back to her crib and got our ramen on.
Ooh, and today @ 3:30 pm is the Chic-a-go-go I'm on.
