I bet you were the best sleighbell player EVER!
yawn
Work was interesting today (this being coffee work and not record work). That's all I have to say on the matter. Came home and passed out on the couch.
Sooz and I had a lovely field trip to the 24 hour post office, where we suffered a brief run in with the Postal Police that saw us thrown in Mail Jail for a few hours. We are fine now though, sans office chairs, sadly.

Saint Cappuccino
VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope John Paul on Sunday beatified a 17th-century friar credited with halting a Muslim invasion of Europe and in the process discovering the frothy coffee drink cappuccino.
More than 300 years after his death, Marco d'Aviano cleared the last step before sainthood, as the pope recognized the friar's miraculous work including curing a nun who had been bedridden for 13 years.
History books also show that with a vast Ottoman Turk army beating a path to Vienna in 1683, d'Aviano was sent by the then-pope to unite the outnumbered Christian troops, spurring them to victory.
As the Turks fled, legend has it they left behind sacks of coffee which the Christians found too bitter, so they sweetened it with honey and milk.
The drink, now supped by millions around the world, was called cappuccino after the Capuchin order of monks to which d'Aviano belonged.
Under a cloudy sky in St Peter's Square on Sunday, the pope paid tribute to d'Aviano and five other Italians whom he also beatified.

"...but I didn't order a cheese fondue set from ebay." ~ziggy.
yeehaw
Went and saw people at Gunther Murpheys tonite, specifically Steve and Diane from Dolly Varden, and Ed Burch, and I kinda skipped out on Riviera (sorry Derek) to go to my old gay bar stomping ground, where someone quesstioned my "kd lang circa '87 look". all in all a successful evening.

Quote of the Day
"Boy, people sound like they're partying out there like we don't have coffee to be selling!" ~Stan
review o rama!
Since someone asked and I provided a smart ass answer, and people seem to come here looking for Wilco content (based on the google searches for "wilco samorama") I guess I should do something productive and provide a little review of the new wilco songs they've been playing at the shows:
Company in my Back: catchy, about a bee? any song that has shit in the chorus rocks...
Theologians: I like the refrain or whatever...."they don't know nothing about my soul" and it's all souly...kinda like "look I've got soul, and you think you know about it but you don't"...I'm reading way too into this...Made me start dancing whist waiting for the Blue Line Train at 4:26am with no sleep. Effective.
Kicking Televison:brings me back to my youth and days in the "mosh pit"...okay, that's kind of lie...I did get slightly bruised at a Fugazi concert once though. Motherfuckers, I thought Ian was against that shit.
At Least That's What You Said:Fucking depressing lyrics but a melody that decieves you into thinking it's a 'nice little song'. One of the things I adore Jeff's songwriting for.
I need new headlines!!
thinking i aint getting much sleep tonite...pulling an all dayer tommorow...i really dont mind working at POS though...duh! today was weird i was in a really good mood...must have been the sleep!
is it just me, or is fried chicken getting smaller?

Mocha Malt Frappuccino Blended Beverages (tm)
they are addictive. I got to sample them while Minus 5's "The Family Gardener" played...how odd. Also got to wear a blue apron instead of the standard green. funny how the simple things make life all that much more interesting.
so that's what it feels like!
wow, i got like 7 hours of sleep! and I haven't drinken (drank? drunk?) since monday...feel like I should do something stupid tommorow after a full day of working :P
love calculator revisited
Love Calculator results
These are the results of the calculations by Dr. Love:
74 % †
Dr. Love thinks that a relationship between (samorama) and (blank) has a reasonable chance of working out, but on the other hand, it might not. Your relationship may suffer good and bad times. If things might not be working out as you would like them to, do not hesitate to talk about it with the person involved. Spend time together, talk with each other.
well duh :P
ahhhh!
I should get a normal nite's sleep tonite. the place feels kind if empty now that everyones gone home, and sooz is out for a bit...i'm kinda lonely, thank goodness for amelia and the boys...
and on this day in history...or one close to it, my favorite album of all time was released! wow, things were different then.

"Man, if I ever see James Taylor on the street I'm gonna punch him in the face!" ~Jacob
ahhhh spring!
Nothing like an Iced Quadruple Venti Caramel Macchiatto and being online outdoors on a chilly spring Chicago day. That coupled with 2 hours of sleep and I'm quite wired actually!!
another looooooooooooong day
I just want a lot of uninterupted sleep. is that too much to ask?

I am never drinking again...
for a few days anyway. Matt is a bad influence! I barely remember the show...so if I said it wasn't good, I probably didn't know...
Wilco!
they were great! go Belleville Marroons!

Flamin' Peep Hangover!!
While barely having enough time to recover from last nite's festivitites we are soon going to be on our way to DeKalb for a Wilco show! wahoo!

Hoppy Easter!
Wow, what a shindig! tons of food, and much food being set on fire! Egg dyeing now!!
still alive!
Last nite after not sleeping for about 40 I thought it would be fun to see how wasted I could get before I just expired, and thankfully Matt was along for the ride with me. I drank and did some other stuff, and by the time I crawled into bed I think I was hallucinating, and Matt says I said things that didn't make much sense.
I'm feeling much more refreshed today. Work was good, especially getting a stack of flats from Tiffany's first album. Now we must prepare for the big Easter gathering tommorow!

Cheez-tastic!

Last nite's Minus show was really increadible! can't wait for tonite...waiting in line isn't too bad when you have a can of Cheez-tastic, a 40...er, 24 of hard lemonade, and things to decrorate sooz's sling.

walking in a windy park...for real
took Jasmine and Allison sighseeing today. Briefly lost Jasmine in the Art Institute...whoops! found her though, and strolled through Grant Park and around the 'museum campus'. Came home and met up with heidi on the steps. We shall go grab Uyen at the airport in a few hours.
on a side note: Sooz might have broke her her thumb! more details later :(
we could go walking in a windy park
wow, what a nite at the hideout. this was not one that was remarkable from the drunken antics but by the quality of the music. Besides LeRoy and Ed giving us their all, including a special request of "really love to see you tonite" we got a few songs from Tim Easton! and Mark Eitzel was just sort of hanging around.
Allison and Jasmine made their way to the Hideout, which was impressive! And we got a free pizza. And I drank a pink foofy drink. And I think a big crack deal went down. Okay, maybe the drunken antics were remarkable.Tommorow, if i ain't too hung over will take the gals out siteseeing!

Let the Week of Wilco Begin!
Woohoo! Hideout tonite, Allison and Jasmine arrive from CA via St Louis...(they left yesterday too!!)...and I should be in some sort of cupckae induced coma!!

mmmm cupcakes!
In anticipation of the arrival of the first of many house guests this week, Sooz and I are making cupcakes! first come first served. Damn, I should have gotten Uyen's recipe. Instead we are using Betty Crocker and Pilsbury Doughboy's mixes...uh recipes.
R.I.P. Wacker T. Fish
Wacker lived his life from July 2002-April 13, 2003 in a Mac Classic aquarium. He spent his day swimming around and eating fish foof. Wacker is survived by Fokker, still residing in the Mac.
I'm not talking 'bout buhlibbin
Sooz and I got really worked up by the Dan Seals song "I'd Really Love to See You Tonite" and the first line of the chorus. I guess I'd always sung it has "Believing" and Sooz thought "The live in" and she was pretty damn close. We found out it was "movin' in" but I have a feeling we will always sing "buhlubbin".
Damn I Haven't Updated in Awhile.
I've been out wrecking havoc with Matt. We tried and failed to steal this downed bus stop/no parking sign outside the el by my place. Went to a show at Cal's last nite in which 1/3 of the POS staff played in. Hmm, what are the odds? Sooz asked if Matt was coming over for dinner tonite and I said he really needs to go change his socks after three days.

Yay!
back to lovely weather! uh..that's really all i have to say, you weren't expecting profundities were ya? i mean, dang, it's 68 degrees outside! sadly, the 7-Eleven near my starbucks had nasty flavored slurpees. it's quite slurpee weather. i should check in at the one near job#2. Slurpees make great mixers (er, not before work if yr reading this john...)
In case you missed it...

this was on cable 19 for a half hour. Thanks to lucas for alerting me. it was the most compelling thing I have ever seen on tv.
IF YOU ARE IN CHICAGO!!

"I'm gonna get locked in the bathroom so I can get a bunch of free drinks!" ~Kelly
Thawing out
It's a balmy 53 degrees out now...It's april. I want to show off my legs. (i know, a vast majority of you now are like, 'ew, I hope it stays cold...')
Terror Twilight
I kinda wish this hadn't been the last Pavement album, but it's so effective. it's a downer, kinda gives you chills...which I guess is a good way to go out. Carrot Rope just seems tacked on at the end though...
Still awake.
Of course a bottle of Jolt White Lightnin' and an Iced Venti FIVE SHOT Caramel Macchiato doesn't help. I had fears of falling asleep on the brown line and being stuck in the loop forever while sooz brought me sandwiches.

yawn part 2
On brief break between jobs. Slightly jittery from iced quad vanilla espresso. will be listening to nothing but ROCK tonite at work. No mopey singer-songwriter guys...sorry molina...
From the onion:
sent to me by Jonathan asking if I'm dating myself :P
Girl From Coffee Shop Seen At Bar With Guy From Record Store
OLYMPIA, WA
Marissa Quirk, 21, that girl from the coffee shop, was spotted Monday at McCoy's Tavern with Greg Clarke, 23, the good-looking hipster guy from the record store. "I go into Crazee Espresso and Rainy Day Records a lot, so when I saw them at McCoy's together, I was like, 'It figures they know each other,'" said Dan Duckett, 22, who has long harbored a crush on Quirk. "It reminded me of that time I saw the guy from the vintage-clothing store with the cute girl who always announces the bands in the student union."
Yawn.
Currently working at Starbucks. I didn't bother with sleep. When I get done here, I will try to squeeze in a nap before going to work @ POS. even more yawn.

Just maybe...
I can manually get the lines on here...
not that ya'll care
but this page has been giving me tons of grief! I don't know what the deal is! so...no lines in between the post, the now playing doesn't want to update, and if it does, a lot of other stuff disappears.
anyhoot, sooz and I chilled today, ate a mexican 'feastesta' (that's my own word) after grocery shopping and are now watching the Wilco Movie with the commentary. John wins the smartass award...that's not a bad thing. I may still bake a cake...mmmm...cake.
Weird!!
something happened and my code went wacky. I'll try to get this looking back to normal, but i should go to sleep since daylight savings time kicked in!
Testing
hmmmmmm...somethings up with my code!
well rested!
sooz and I are watching/listening to the "americana" channel on music choice...they just played chikamauga and were flashing facts on the screen like "An argument between Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy broke up Uncle Tupelo in 1993". Good Stuff! however, I just heard the Thorns which is Matthew Sweet(!!!!!!!!!), Shawn Mullins ( :(, and Pete Droge...it was incredible!! I'm now scouring the web for info on the release, as the channel says its not out yet. Anyhoot, now they are playing Waco Brothers...pretty damn cool!
In other, uh, news (?) Sooz and I went to the giant new agey hippy store on Ashland and got our Earth Mama on. woohoo. And speaking of UT, I got a copy of No Depression on Vinyl! Finally, a companion piece for my "I got drunk" 7".
ooh, and 50ft Queenie is playing Ladyfest Lansing!!! Clare, if I can't make the show, I SOOOO want a Ladyfest Lansing tshirt!
