Chip says I'm not saying enough!
So I called my sister to wish her a belated birthday, which was the 24th, and of course she's allready asleep, so I talked to Chip, her husband, who is somewhat of a nerd (a mac nerd, even better) and he said my posts don't seem too wordy anymore and he's not fond of the layout. See, I like it when there is constructive criticism. Now, the layout is staying, but I agree on the wordiness. Maybe I've just been in a rut, or I feel my audience has grown so that I can't talk about people and what I have been doing. So today:
Woke to sooz making French Toast!! Oui!
Spoke a bit to Paul online in Montreal!! oui oui!
Went to Quimbys in Wicker Park and bought some zines.
Went to Whole Foods w/ Sooz and Mark, sat around while sooz made a lovely maple glazed pork loin.
Spoke to Chip on the phone.
Went to the Town Hall Pub in Boystown (the only non-gaybar there, really) and drank with Amanda et al. People gave me drinks, it was nice.
uh, perhaps this isn't the format to go with, I will work on it :)

Bennett and Burch in the Hiz-ouse!
Jay and Ed (the performing duo) made a triumphant return to playing live together at the Street Festival. They did favorites of their own songs, some new stuff, and a few choice covers (Door into Summer by the Monkees!!). It was good to see Jay after kinda not being around for awhile. He was missed.

Happy Anniversary RECORDS!!
today marks the 55th anniversary of the 33 1/3 LP record (according to the Drive radiostation.). I know it's late, but go play a record!
Interesting info on records...
Zaireeka Party!
Picked up a copy of the Flaming Lips
Zaireeka. This is of course their four disc album that you are supposed to play all at once. So I guess we need to have some sort of hipster gathering and play all four at once. I might give two a test run.
chillin' like Dylan
decided against poor Evan Dando in favor of chilling tonite with some delicious Leinenkugel's Berry Weiss. aaahhh. need to get out and buy a lotto ticket though, $180,000,000 tonite! that's a lot of 0s.

heatwave!!
Well, okay, it's the first day over 80 degrees or so, so let's call it a heatwave. TONS of shows coming up over the next few days: Evan Dando, Bennett and Burch, Lucero, Canyon/Boas/Catfish Haven...I love it when there's
too much going on!
And if anyone in the Chicago area needs an A/C that kinda freezes up once in a while, but otherwise makes things cold, let me know!

Gods, I'm sooooooo tried
Sooz and I drove to Minneapolis the day of the show. I was a bit disappointed the show wasn't in the sculpture garden itself, but on the street. But it so didn't matter, it was such an insane great show. It reminded me of why I make the effort to see Wilco every chance I get...they are always constantly evolving, and while every show can't be the greatest one ever, once in awhile they just go above and beyond. The new stuff sounded great, the old stuff sounded new...even the insane feedback blast on "Monday" should be a permanent addition. I'll get more pictures up later.

Why Lynyrd Skynrd were/are cool:
Look, they were wearing ironic thrift store tshirts back in the 70s...I bet that one guy wasn't REALLY a vegetarian!!

wastin' away again...
Matt and I got off early yesterday and decided we should just drink margaritas all night. He, sooz and I finished off nearly a whole bottle o' tequila's worth, and when we ran out of margarita mix used Orangina, bananas and strawberries. Nothing like being healthy drunkards. Sooz also managed to cook us a nice meal while pretty damn tipsy, and didn't even injure herself!
and in unrelated stuff...I am on a major Skynyrd kick since finding that record. Scary.
WTF??? my romance scope for sunday...
Don't worry if you are lacking in inspiration concerning what to wear to tonight's party. Today's cosmic energy indicates that on this occasion something completely original and unique is called for. If you are looking for love, then don't wear anything that smacks of normality - even if you have to wear a mix of garments and blend of colors. Life will never be the same again.

No churros
I did not have a churro. I did enjoy the Flaming Lips.
In Duh News
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - The music you listen to may say more about you than you think, according to new research findings that suggest that our choice in music reflects our personalities.
Do you enjoy blues, jazz, classical and folk music? You may be intelligent, tolerant and politically liberal, researchers report.
Meanwhile, country and religious music fans tend to be cheerful, outgoing, reliable and conventional, while alternative and heavy metal music lovers tend to be physically active, curious risk-takers.
As for rap/hip-hop and dance music fans? They are often outgoing, agreeable people who generally eschew conservative ideals, according to a report in the June issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology.
The findings help explain why people who meet at parties often ask one another about their favorite music or bands, study author Dr. Peter J. Rentfrow told Reuters Health. "It assumes that knowing the answer tells you something about who they are" and whether or not to pursue a relationship, added Rentfrow, a psychologist at the University of Texas at Austin.
The results, noted Rentfrow, could have implications for not just dating and friendships, but for marketing, too. Already advertisers use music to entice certain types of people to buy their products.
"We might come up with typologies comprised of music preferences, socioeconomic status, and age," he told Reuters Health.
Online merchant Amazon.com, among other Web sites, tracks customers' purchasing history and browsing patterns and compares their habits with those of others in order to come up with product recommendations. While the company chose not to disclose data indicating the success of this approach, a spokesperson told Reuters Health that it is "well suited to music, where tastes don't change much over time."
Common sense? Perhaps. On the other hand, said Rentfrow, the study may reveal insights into "the mundane."
"Sometimes the most obvious things are hardest for researchers to see," he told Reuters Health. "That's why there's so little research on music preferences and personality. Because it's something we take for granted."
To look at the relationship between music preferences and personality traits, Rentfrow and Texas colleague Dr. Samuel D. Gosling conducted six studies on over 3,500 students. They examined the students' beliefs about music, their music preferences, self-perceptions and cognitive abilities.
Their findings suggest that personality, self-perception and cognitive ability each play a role in the "formation and maintenance of music preferences," they write.

What's your name?
I found a copy of Lynyrd Skynyrd's
Street Survivors with the
original flame coverand tour dates...creepy.
T-Mobile =T-Jerks
Well, I told them I would let the world know they are jerks, so at least the 50 or so people who read my site...I cancelled my T-Mobile Hotspot account the DAY AFTER I was billed for the month. So they deactivated my account right away...and still charged me for the month!
Now, If you're going to charge me for the month, at least keep my account active! And they'd better not charge me TWICE for the fee to deactivate my account twice if they do in fact reactivate it...It's a cool service, but they kind of seem like assholes, pardon my french. Oh well, at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that this will come up on all google searches for T-Mobile...
I don't care
I can't be bothered with anything recently. My mind is like a void. What can I say? Basically not much happening these days. Basically nothing seems worth doing.
haha, no, not really...this post was created with The Online Journal Entry Generator.

Field Trip!
Our usual close by Uncle Remus was closed, so Sooz, Theresa and I ventured a little further south. We also checked out the corner store there and picked up some
Rap Snacks. we got a few bags each of "BBD Back at the Ranch" potato chips and "Baby Bar B Queing with my Honey Popcorn".
doing my part
I wore a button with the ban comic sans on it to work today, and had one serious inquiry into it. he took one of the two flyers I had printed up and a vincent sticker...he too realized the overuse of the font, saying 'it makes me cross eyed".

Everything=nothing.
Hung out in my old hood tonite.
So we made a run to Dunkin Donuts. And they had the bagel baskets, with the name of the bagel under it. So there's this one basket, that has no bagels in it, and under the basket the sign reads "Everything" but there was NOTHING!
mmm...bagels.
