Guys don't read this...
I'm serious.
Okay, so I went for my gyno exam at
Chicago Women's Health Center. It is a wonderful place that provides quality women's health care regardless of their ability to pay. the woman doing my exam actually let me look at what was going on, and explained everything, so I actually have some understanding of what my body is doing. not to mention discovering other methods of birth control that a woman controls besides the pill. so chicago women who haven't had an exam in a while because of no insurance, there is no excuse! and if you do have good insurance, why don't you show how greatful you are by sending the CWHC a donation?

Best Money scam email EVER!!
I'm a time traveler stuck here in 2003. Upon arriving here my dimensional warp generator stopped working. I trusted a company here by the name of LLC Lasers to repair my Generation 3 52 4350A watch unit, and they fled on me. I am going to need a new DWG unit, prefereably the rechargeable AMD wrist watch model with the GRC79 induction motor, four I80200 warp stabilizers, 512GB of SRAM and the menu driven GUI with front panel XID display.
I will take whatever model you have in stock, as long as its received certification for being safe on carbon based life forms.
In terms of payment:
I dont have any Galactic Credits left. Payment can be made in platinum gold or 2003 currency upon safe delivery of unit. Please transport unit in either a brown paper bag or box to below coordinates on Sunday July 27th at (exactly 3:00pm) Eastern Stand Time. If you miss this timeframe please email me.
42.4845467 & Longitude -71.1576157 and the ground is 101.3' above sea level.
Although those coordinates are a secure guarded area, these channels through email are never secure. Unfortunately it is the only form of communication I have right now. There is a good chance that sombody will try to redirect the signal. The unit must be teleported directly in a way
that nobody will be able to interfere with the transference.
After unit has been sent please email me at: info@federalfundingprogram.com
with payment instructions. Do not reply directly back to this email.
Thank You

K-Mart = not the place to go for summer fashions
Sooz and I went to K-Mart trying to find her a pair of shorts at 9pm tonite. It's really the only game in town that late. Skorts seem to be all the rage there, and like bright lime green knit capris, and sparkley jeans. overheard was a conversation that included "you're not in jail anymore!" (perhaps Martha Stewart was in there stocking her own department?) in fact, the best clothes were really the stuff in the kids school uniform department, which sooz can indeed fit into.

Battle of the Network Stars!!
Holy Crap!! Trio is showing Battle of the Network Stars! this show is insane!! Telly Savalas is wearing a track suit, and a ton of bling bling and smoking cigarettes. they've got robert conrad in the dunk tank, but jimmy "jj" walker couldn't dunk him. Penny Marshal was swimming.
they need to resurect this show and do new ones!!
No more green tables!
Mac IE users, rejoice! you no longer see green tables on my site thanks to the ingenious help of
Chip Chenery, my fabulous nerd brother in law!
now mac IE users, you really should think about safari...thought the
Planet of Sound site might not quite work right.
I don't promote porn...
(anymore) but this is some great stuff
at this site. Here's a sample:
Rhett Miller = SEXIEST GUY ON STAGE WITH AN ACCOUSTIC GUITAR EVER
Wow, Rhett is an incredibly engaging performer. I have never seen a performance by a guy and an accoustic guitar on a stage that kinetic. He's just all over the place, attacking his guitar, spitting out the lyrics with such convitction you get the feeling he really does 'wanna mess around' with you.
The opener, Kevin Thujista (?) was a kind of mopey singer songwriter, whom about the most remarkable thing going for him was a uv light reactive Lucite BC Rich Hummingbird. Almost distracting from his songs, really.
Rhett came out and snapped us all out of it, playing a solid hour and a half, lotsa 97's stuff, solo album stuff, and a few new ones he said were for the 97s (one of which I'd heard the last 2 times I saw him and is a great new song). He played one guitar throughout (A Guild) until he busted a string (only once!) when it was switched out with a Martin, but the Guild was out by the next song. I felt like I was an an Elvis Presley show though, screaming and shreiking when he'd launch into solos and do those insane sexy moves he does.
Some of what was played: doreen, salome, bel air, rollerskate skinny, time bomb, barrier reef, big brown eyes, buick city complex, over the cliff, stoned, jagged, 19, murder or a heart attack, our love, the el, designs on you, question...erm, I'm sure there was more.
and teeg, you should have stuck around about 15 more minutes, and rhett would have commented on you name, as he did everyone whom he signed something for. he's just as dreamy close up, but what's the deal with the gold tooth? :D

Upcoming Alejandro Escovedo Benefits: Don't Forget!
I just want to remind Chicago and nearby folks about the upcoming benefits for Alejandro Escovedo, an amazing artist who's recently had to take time off from touring (his bread and butter) due to complications from hepatitis c.
alejandro started out in the 70s with a band called the Nuns, who had the honor of opening for the Sex Pistols in the US. He later formed Rank and File with the Kinman brothers of the punk group the Dils. Rank and File were probably one of the first bands to mix roots rock with punk, which had the term 'cowpunk' applied to it. (moo)
anyhoot, alejandro is currently on Bloodshot records and his last album
A Man Under the Influence is a really beautiful thing. thankfully, a lot of artists (many fellow labelmates) also feel this way and are putting on a couple shows to raise money and awareness for alejandro, who like many artists, have no health insurance (ala Victoria Williams and Vic Chesnutt).
So here's the lineup for the two shows. I strongly urge those who are not familiar with Bloodshot's lineup to check out one or both of these. You'll be getting a great nite of entertainment and helping out a truly gifted artist that should be putting out new albums and defining new genres for years to come. tickets are on sale at Laurie's Planet of Sound for the Abbey Pub show...they are beautiful little signed and numbered prints.

Quote of the Day
'The three biggest lies are as follows:
1) "The check's in the mail"
2) "I won't cum in your mouth."
and
3) "Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage...Mr. Jay Bennett!"'
~Ed Burch
Rant
I love it when someone who hasn't spoken to you in months still has you on their mass email list. "hey, I don't feel like talking to you personally anymore, but please come check out my friends exhibit/my exhibit/my show/vote for me in blah blah." it's really freaking tacky.
okay, back to your normal joviality.
Flying Underpants Cause Highway Crash
BERLIN (Reuters) - A pair of flying underpants caused a crash on a German highway when they landed on a driver's face and blocked his view, police said Tuesday.
A police spokesman in the central town of Gotha said one of a group of naked men in a van threw the underwear into a Volkswagen Passat as they passed it on a busy stretch of one of Germany's notoriously speedy autobahns.
"The underpants landed on the driver's face, causing him to ram the truck ahead from behind," said the spokesman, adding that he did not know why the men were driving along naked.
No one was hurt in the crash, but police are hunting the owner of the underpants for failing to stop at the scene.
What I Accomplished Today
I rested. I introduced Sooz to black eyed peas, and she enjoyed them. I tidyed the room a good bit, to a point where I wouldn't be embarassed to have someone besides kitties in my room. oh, went out and got the mail. sheesh, not much really.

Chic-a-go-go Alert!
Theresa and I are on the Chic-a-go-go airing tonite on Cable 19 @ 8:30 pm.
since everyone is coming here looking for this...
I seem to be getting a lot of searches for the Brewers/Pirates Sausage race incident. When I first saw the footage, i was shocked, it look like he smacked the hell out of the Italian Sausage...but she claims it wasn't a huge wack. So now I can laugh at the incident. I went to a Brewers Game, and that Sausage Race was truly the highlight. I even have a t-shirt from it! I cheered the hotdog.
Ikea!
Sooz n I went to Ikea today. Got the whole Ikea experience including Swedish Meatballs and Frozen Yogurt. Bought items with silly names like Nick, Armada, Forby and Koppla.
(special points to anyone who can identify what those products are by those names.)
got tix for the first nite of Wilco in Chicago. Balcony...could be worse though, could be the gallery. Cursed reserved seating venues!! Des Moines should be fun, at least ;)

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Randall Simon got a grilling from prosecutors and was let off with a $432 fine Thursday after bopping a woman dressed as a giant sausage with his bat.
Simon was cited by the sheriff's department for disorderly conduct and fined for a swing that got more attention than any other around the majors Wednesday night.
Simon said he did not deliberately try to knock down the woman, who tumbled to the ground and suffered only a few scrapes during the popular costume race at Milwaukee Brewers games.
"That wasn't my intention in my heart for that to happen," Simon said before Thursday's game. "I was just trying to get a tap at the costume and for her to finish the race."
The 18-year-old woman, Mandy Block, was among four people dressed as an oversized bratwurst, a hot dog and Italian and Polish sausages racing past the Pirates' dugout.
Simon took a half swing at Block, dressed as the Italian sausage, hitting her from behind. When she fell, she knocked over the woman dressed as the hot dog. The two women scraped their knees.
Simon was arrested and booked for misdemeanor battery, and told to show up at the district attorney's office. After Simon and one of the women met with prosecutors Thursday, Deputy District Attorney Jon Reddin said the two women did not think Simon meant to hurt them and "were not interested in having him charged criminally."
"It just seems ridiculous," Block told WTMJ-TV of Milwaukee. "It's like a big sausage getting hit by a bat causes all this controversy. It just seems kind of funny to me.
"It wasn't that big of a blow," Block said. "I think just because I'm so small and it's such a big costume that I tumbled."
Simon, who had said he hoped to apologize to Block before leaving Milwaukee, gave the Brewers two autographed bats for both women who fell.
He said he was just playing around.
"I thought at the moment they were trying to play with us. They were running right next to the players," he said. "I'm a fun player, and I've never hurt anyone in my life."
After the incident, Simon drew boos when he was used as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning. He grounded out in the only playing time he saw.
The Pirates issued a statement saying they do not condone Simon's behavior and will address the issue internally. Simon was not in the starting lineup Thursday.
Rick Schlesinger, Brewers executive vice president for business operations, said Simon's conduct was unjustified.
"This is one of the most outrageous things I've ever seen inside a ballpark or outside a ballpark," he said. "It sickened me to see it."
On Thursday, four new people were inside the costumes, and Pirates players moved into the dugout and away from the field during the race.
"They're rounding the Pirates dugout -- they've made it safely," said Robb Edwards, the Brewers announcer, to the wild cheers of fans on their feet.
Fittingly, the Italian sausage won.
Nothing beats flannel PJ pants
Went to Schuba's for Autumn Defense and Barry Andrews...have to say poor Barry wasn't quite my thing so I hung in the bar and schmoozed a bit.
good grief, there are way too many show coming up...not to mention a full Wilco assault in Septemeber!
...have I mentioned how lovely the weather is, or that Vinnie the cat hopped up on my shoulders the other day and just stood there for a bit? dang. cats...

I despise your taste
"What do I think about Yankee Hotel Foxtrot by Wilco? I'll tell you what I think...
††You've probably guessed that I don't like Wilco very much. It's due to being assaulted by things like a dawn chorus of chickens slowly being ground into mince for the cheap meat market, or Kamera as it is known on the back of CD. Track three, Radio Cure or the stomach rumblings of Miss 'Overweight Texas' 1994? You decide, I'm not playing it again. To be honest, it's been a long time since I've heard an album quite this bad. I do this for a living, and you won't believe the shit you get sent as the 'Next Big Thing'. Take I'm the Man Who Loves You for example - if I'd wanted a recording of a cheap keyboard being played by a God-fearing christian fund raiser outside Tesco's I'd have asked for it. Take it away and put it out of it's misery. Please.
††If you've just bought , take my advice and get a big black marker and scrawl all over track ten, Poor Places *before* you play it. If you've already played it, you no doubt know all about the gentle sound of the dull splash of a TB patient coughing up his lungs onto the floor it produces from your speakers. On second listening Reservations starts sounding a little better, a bit more muffled and a little less like aural herpes. Or is that because I've strapped a twelve tog duvet around my head to block out the evil nastiness? You decide.
††In fact, there's no excuse for people buying this and taking it into their homes to tortute their innocent children."

Wilco at Summerfest wrap up
So the most significant part of the evening was it was my young friend Rosie's first show. This was totally cool though, because it was like I was seeing them for the first time too. Well, I didn't have quite the interpretive dance moves down that she did, but oh well.
My highlights were:
A ferris wheel next to the stage.
AMAZING blown the roof off the dump opener of Via Chicago.
The sexiest silver blue Gibson SG.
AND remember how I was saying wilco really should have three guitar rockouts like Skynyrd? My wish came true on "I got you" Jeff playing the Flying V, Mike on the sexy guitar...LeRoy REALLY should have jumped up on his piano while playing the guitar though ;)

Drumming progress
Is being made. I'm also getting into the whole sampling/mixing thing. Why, I put my drumming with Jack White's guitar, then made it all backwards and fuzzy. Not that this has any purpose really.
Tuesday, July 01, 2003
Welcome, people who type New Wilco Songs into web searches!
With all the shows Wilco is playing, I am noticing an increase of people coming here looking for "Muzzle of Bees" etc. No mp3s here, just set lists and reviews of shows I have seen. I live in Chicago, love Wilco's music, and see them as much as possible. so hi.
Dang, I had no idea...
Following a show in Phoenix on April 26, 2003, acclaimed singer-songwriter and playwright Alejandro Escovedo collapsed and was hospitalized due to complications from Hepatitis C. He is currently at home in Canyon Lake, Texas, resting and undergoing treatment to alleviate the effects of his condition. Alejandro's rigorous touring schedule and recording sessions for a new album that had begun the week before are both on hold as he recuperates.
There is no health insurance to cover the mounting medical bills and loss of income as Alejandro continues to pursue treatment. In response to an outpouring of concern from friends, fans, and associates from across the nation, a trust has been established to handle donations on his behalf.
Looks like Bloodshot is putting together some benefit shows here in Chicago. I encourage everyone to check them out, and will have more info about them when they come up.
Changes to my drumming career
I never got beyond a snare drum, and my kids kit, nor do I think it is too practical to have a full kit while living in a condo situation.
So I have downloaded
Doggiebox which is a drumming simulator kinda thing for my Mac. And
Wilca has asked me to drum for them! This way, I can be the Glenn and Mike for the band! This doesn't mean my time in Teen Recipes is up...however we have only rehearsed once as a full band!
anyhoot, looking forward to seeing Wilco at
Summerfest this week, and of course, celebrating the birth of our nation.
