wow, it really is like a whole nuther country here. oh that's texas, but it applies to florida...mom is doing okay, the rest of my family is good...catching up with everyone. (posting outside at starbucks now). I have drank more sweet tea in the past few days than in most of my life.

Now I will pointlessly gripe...
about MTV2 Subterrainean. Remember 120 minutes, which was that long? now we get an alleged hour of mainstream indie music. I say alleged because these asshole must play like 20 minutes of videos in the hour that the show is on. booo hiss.
Oh sheesh, and the GloNo party!
That was a good time! I missed Millions, but caught Riviera and some of Quasar Wut Wut, all were good, and you really can't go wrong wrong with cake and beer! Met a lot of internet people who turned out to be real people! Weird when that happens.
Centro-matic & Summer Hymns @ Schubas
Yay! I wasn't familiar with
Summer Hymns, but on the advice of someone made sure I caught their set. I really really dug them, and am now bummed I didn't buy both all their albums (though I did pick up the vinyl they had...)
Centro-matic were really great, as ususal. Will has some of the best stage moves out there (i know i've said that before.)

holy crap, what a show at schubas tonite. I daresay that was the first and only show i was down on my knees for (during a rollickin' version of "Love Train" dammit!) yep. a good show, good times, I got a free beer out of it. today was overall a really great day, i even got a valentine (uuuuuuuuuuuugh).

Waiting for everyone to get here: Kristina's train is late, Mark's plane is late, Daniel left late...haven't even HEARD from Alison and Kris. So Vinnie, Amelia and I are just chillin', enjoying a Blue Moon. that's good stuff. OHMIGODS, sooz and I found a Peeps Maker at Target yesterday! We're gonna make our own peeps when everyone is here! wooot!

Fucking jerk at the "audio store"
I go into this store that deals in audio equipment, that we frequently recommend to people at work. I tell the guy I need a grounding wire for a technics SL QD 35...he says that's not enough, and I'd have to bring the whole thing in, and he'd have to order one, and was just a real jerk about it in general. So I go to Radio Shack, buy something called "hook up wire", stick it in the hole in the back of the turntable, and attach it to the GRD bolt on the back of my tuner, and boom. No more humming. sheesh, I think I'm gonna package a piece of "hook up wire" as a "turntable grounding cable" and sell it for $4. I could make a lot of money off this giant spool I got.

Finally!!
My new (used) mac is finally starting to feel like
MY new mac! It looks sorta like my old one, this one's indigo, not blueberry, and where the blueberry one was pretty transparent this one is more opaque. Now, you may wonder why I didn't get one of the new White sleeker iBooks? I just love the design of the original iBook. It's built like a tank and I am a bit of a klutz...and it has a handle! So I have just about cutsiefied it back up to standards and got all my necessaries back on it. yay maccy!

Except people talking about Janet's boob. Who won the "big game" anyways? Noah and I were discussing that the halftime show would have been cooler if it was based on the new Band of Blacky Ranchette album,
Still Lookin' Good To Me...Richard Buckner would expose Neko Case's breast, Howe Gelb would drive the souped-up golf cart, M Ward and Dallas Good's guitars would shoot lazers, Cat Power would dress up like a drum majorette, the grandaddy guys running around naked dancing...and a pregame show featuring GG Allin throwing poo and the Waco Brothers playing with Jon Langford ranting about capatalism between commerical breaks. It "would rule, to say the least".
Going to the Hideout for Kelly Hogan Thursday. I really need to start causing trouble there again. I miss it!

So I guess I kinda forgot that I had invited Clare over for the "super bowl party" (since everyone else bailed on it). She showed up and I was in my jammies. thank goodness a bottle of pinot grigio (or some sort of red wine) was left over from the xmas party which we drank and enjoyed Parking Lot, the Halftime show (with Janet Jackson's nipple), and 'classic' music videos. Afterwards, sooz, mark n I went to
White Palace for b&g. mmmm.
