Cinnamatosis
Noah is trying to tell me that you can get some sort of cinnamon related illness from eating too much cinnamon. I cannot find any evidence of this on the www via google, or even mamma, the mother of all search engines. anyone know?

the rock was had last nite
The Hideout Wilco Midnite Sale Live Band Karaoke with B5ive party was a smashing success, even with the cumbersome name. Some people were really talented, and everyone did a good job of pretending my box full of letters was decent. The best were the group sing alongs, like the Noah led "One Hundred Years from Now". Mark taped it... woot! I think I got better as I got drunker.
Anyhoot, we sold like 100 copies of the new album between last nite and today! YAY!
okay, djing tommorrow @ Delilah's. you should go.
so so so tired
thanks to everyone who came to the hideout tonite.

zzzzzz
worked, then went and saw Napoleon Dynamite with Noah... His taste in movies, much like his taste in music, is impecable. And
ligers really do exist. whoa.

yay ted leo secret show at the hideout!
What a great show after being packed in like cattle to a sold out Fireside Bowl last time he came though. He played his entire just recorded album
Shake the Sheets in order all the way though, and said it was due out in October. I'm not sure if it's just the three piece lineup that played tonite that are going to be on the album, but the songs were a lot harder than
Hearts of Oak without the keyboards.
wow. this will make it a really great year for music! (but i think i say that every year).
loooong week coming up, working thru Thursday, wilco release party Monday, DJing at Delilah's Wednesday, then Mary and family are coming Saturday! i should go to bed, huh?
Saturday, June 19, 2004
ahh kitties!
i'm surrounded by them now.
tonite was judy and jerrod's going away party at the hideout, and riviera rocked the place, we danced, ate pizza, and drank ciders and manhattans. i don't recommend the manhattans, holy shit. daniel had a bigg nife.

Mike plays a real piano!!
...with doilies!
Hummingbird
...is what Wilco played on Letterman tonite. Mike played a real piano! Nels Cline's godliness shone though the TV. Jeff danced! This is probably second only to the Letterman performance with the mystery chime player.

I wasn't murdered
Met up with a guy (Noah) that I have only talked to via AIM for a few years (?). He and his friend (they are from Texas) are pretty cool and hopefully didn't think I was too much a ditz for not bringing my wallet to the hideout (thank goodness Tim was outside and let me in). He needs a place to stay for a few months, so if anyone has any leads, let me know!

Coming Home Via Chicago
an appropriate opener kicked off the last of 4 shows this week for me, and it had some great moments. the encore of "misunderstood" was pretty fantastic. the crowd seemed kinda "eh" though, and i am having a hard time deciding if NYC or DC was the better show. Have I mentioned how insanely amazing nels cline is? holy shit! I no longer have to be in front of jeff for every show, nels is soooo cool to watch! (oh yeah, thanks sue!)

holy crap, i am home
and it feels good. i went straight from midway, suitcase in tow, to nevin's in evanston on the purple line. yes, i went all the way across the city after seeing wilco three days in a row to experience the magic of ed burch, and he soooo did not disappoint. in fact, stealing some of the magic was the john peacock pop threetet doing some great stuff but most notably a men at work cover and a matthew sweet cover... way to get my heart.
ed and his nad the staunch characters took the stage and did no less than nearly all my favorite bennett and burch songs, and i must say i barely noticed the missing bennett... gods, i hadn't heard those songs in forever and they sounded pretty fantastic. then, like it could get any fucking better, ed and john and friends took the stage, decked out in polyester and afros and tinted shades and played every ELO song you know. truly a strange magic. fucking amazing. and he says he'll be back at the hideout this summer, halle-fucking-lujia.
holy crap, one more wilco show tommorow. how do i afford my rock-n-roll lifestyle?
(oh and thanks to heidi for sharing some wine on the plane with me. and did i mention pizza and britney spears in a giant SUV in the bronx with paul and passed out sooz? and barnes and noble in poughkeepsie with jeff, mike and john? it's kinda surreal sometimes. i missed home.)

Day Off!
spent the day relaxing in the mountains of Virginia with my sister Mary, nephew Owen, bro-in-law Chip, nephew dog Sarah, nephew cat Aloyusious(sp?), neice cat Sadie, a feral cat, groundhog, several bunnies and insects. I fear I have lyme disease. One day of 'roughing it' is enough, but probably necessary after exploiting the rock-n-roll lifestyle for 4 wild days. The three Wilco shows I saw were fantastic... Jeff serenaded me with Hummingbird @ Irving Plaza
(Jen, thanks for taking it...)
So, flying home tommorow with Heidi, going straight out to Nevins to see the magical Mr. Ed Burch doing a tribute to ELO!! then one more Wilco show Saturday. I need a vacation from the vacation!

tipsy in poughkeepsie!
GREAT show by wilco tonite in poughkeepsie. for the most part, i have to say poughkeepsians are very friendly and cool. i was a bit disappointed that we did not stop in peekskill to visit eastland school on the way, but oh well. am very tired. irving plaza tommorow, woot!

start spreading the news.
sooz and I made it to islip (pronounced i slip) and took various buses and trains to make it into times square. we spent the say shopping! bought some good counterfit louis vuiton murkamis, went to a giant toys r us... it was cool. met up with paul who we are now staying with and took us to a redundantly named diner.
ooh, wilco tommorow!

wow, i think my room is put together...
and it looks like a deranged 12 year old who goes to too many rock shows lives in it.
saw the shaggs musical with graham today... it was way entertaining, if not a slight downer, but I did know the story going into it, so i wasn't shocked or anything. (thanks LeRoy!) working working, then hideout tommorow nite, off Friday, Decemberists Friday nite, work Saturday morn then NY on Sunday!
what dark sesame street secret are you?

Grover on Ecstasy
