a lovely nite at the hideout
The Pine Valley Cosmonauts were tearing it up on a Wednesday nite. Kelly Hogan's doggie even provided some backing vocals. They are apparantly playing the parking lot of the Grand Ole Opry this weekend!

One-Star Amazon Reviews of Highly Praised Albums:
First up:
Radiohead OK Computer
ïThis is boring crap, go buy Hendrix or Iron Maiden!
ïWhat really gets to me is how anyone could compare this album to Dark Side Of The Moon. DSOTM was a masterpiece, this, is a travesty, a sham, and a Mockery.. It's a Traveshamockery.
ï"Computer OK" is a Pink Floyd imitation with added bits of grunge rock angst. The angst Radiohead tries to show over being dehumanized by machines never comes across angry, but hurt.
Read More...Lots of Avril Lavigne comparisons.

yay Finn Brothers!!
I had a great time at the show yesterday... met some new people at the front of the line waiting to get in that made it even bearable to wait for... uh, however many hours I showed up early. Also saw my old buddy from the last Neil show, Nick, but sadly his wife Natalie was in Australia on business (we did talk to her on the phone though!).
The opener, Angela Mclusky(?) was pretty good, and kept the set short... The Finns were great though, the new songs from the upcoming album sound GREAT... I was a little worried, because while the first Finn Bros. album has some great moments, it's not my fave album. It is also a testament to the sound at the Vic that I could hear the lyrics well in the new songs. As for old faves they did a great balance of
Woodface Crowded House stuff and Split Enz (Weather with You, Four Seasons, It's Only Natural, One Step Ahead, Poor Boy, History Never Repeats, Six Months in a Leaky Boat). I'd never seen Tim before and was very impressed with his dancing. My only complaint was that the set was pretty short, we were out of there by 10!
I think the hanging out and eating may have lasted longer than the show, but that was good too... I think I might have been the youngest person there! ;) It was cool to meet fans from all over the country (continent!)... we had representatives from LA, Canada, and Detroit at our table.

at a loss for an interesting headline
not for lack of anything interesting happening. Sooz n Mark are back from the UK. The John Wesley Harding All Male Threesome last nite was pretty damn enjoyable. Scott should be able to buy a few good bottles of booze with the amount of merch we purchased. Noah made my sock monkey do naughty things. okay, maybe none of that was particularly interesting. OMG! got my Finn Brothers ticket... only going Thursday, which should be more than enough Finn, which leads me to the

Quote of the Day pt 1
"I didn't know John Wesley Harding was so handsome!" ~Kristina

Google search of the day:
you ought to know Dave Couleir
(or however it is spelled)
there is some urban legend floating around that the Alanis Morissette song is about Cousin Joey from Full House. I apparantly have mentioned Dave however it is spelled at some point.
I would in fact go down on Dave Howeveritisspelled in a theatre.
not much happening, oh that's not entirely true, hung out with amanda @ Town Hall and met their ferrets!
(Amanda, they were eating a Luna Bar in my bag...they got some vitamins.)
Seeing John Wesley Harding and Scott McCaughey at Schuba's tommorow. woot!

Wilco lyric whats a cta?
It's the
Chicago Transit Authority... They have areas where you can drop off someone, and I guess you are supposed to kiss them and then they get off and ride the bus/train.
Today
had an enjoyable day at work (isn't that nice? I like it when there is stuff occupying all my time...) watched school of rock (finally!) then noah and i went to popeyes and then watched the "unrated" version of charlie's angels: full throtle. sheesh. i thought there would be a lot of titties since it was unrated, but no such luck.

what a day
Weird stuff was happening and not good, but Kate called on her way to the They Might Be Giants shows in Columbia, MO and asked if she could get me something!! Then Noah picked me up from work and we went to Margies, which I had never been to before, but apparantly the Beatles has, and we had ice cream and then watched the Polyphonic Spree DVD that came with the new CD, and you really can't feel crummy after that.
...and who was talking to me about some weird brand of chips that had a coney island flavor? we found them tonite, but they scared me.

Hey friends in Jacksonville!
Southwest Airlines is having some crazy sale, $120 round trip to chicago! it's for travel after like August 15 and is good for nearly a month, including my brithday! Ya'll should come visit. (It also works if I go to Jax...so we shall see.)
Pretty normal day today. Worked, went to Arturo's with Noah, and then bought Sooz some hardcore Reese's product. Yep.
I find this a little creepy...
CDC Trading Cards... Print 'em out and give your friends hantavirus, or west nile! whee!
Happy 4th o July a couple days later!
Wow, what an action packed 4th! Sooz got in another accident, we went to taste and saw Old 97s and They Might Be Giants, then went to Evanston for a very impressive fireworks display with some great non-traditional music such as Carole King's Jazzman, My Sharona, and Superfreak! The oddest thing though was that Noah said it would be cool to hear Hawaii Five-0...and they played it!!! We then had our own impressive display of sparklers and, uh, smoke bombs. woot. There are plenty of picures which I should maybe post in the next couple days, especially the movie of Kristina spelling her name in sparker! Oh and the night wound down at Superdawg!

rain rain
wow, it has rained all damn day. Vinnie the cat got out today! He showed up hours later soaked and apparantly not acting like he had been missing on a rainy day. he is in bed with me now, yelling for attention. Appropriately we are listening to Patterson Hood's "Miss Me Gone". Noah has moved out...two blocks away. I won't have time to miss him, apparantly, he came and got me tonite from work and we went to
Portillos which is his favorite place to eat, it is pretty incredible, we got two large cheese fries, a fried chicken on croissant, spaghetti dinner AND a strawberry smoothie at the damn drive thru!
hopefully the rain will subside for Old 97s/They Might Be Giants at Taste of Chicago tommorow! :(

kevin kline
saw iron and wine tonite at the abbey with noah and kristina. we got free ciders since it took like an hour to get curry fries preshow, that was cool. there was this crazy girl in front of us who musta been on ecstacy or something during the show. anyhoot, it was a really great show, southern anthem had this new arrangement with the full band that kicked ass in the soft folky rock way that sam beam kicks.

woo spiderman!
After poo-pooing the first movie for too much CGI (something I am not a big fan of, but will make exception for in Star Wars) I finally did watch it and really enjoyed it. Maybe I was really enjoying Toby Maguire. Dear gods, is he soo adorable or what? Noah and I went and saw 2, and it too was really enjoyable. However, the scenes on the subway were actually filmed in Chicago's Loop, on a Saturday, when I was still working at the Starbucks on Jackson and Wabash. You can even see the building in part of the scene. I was also happy that Toby wears glasses more in this movie.... sigh.

Really, look!
quote of the day
"i have the keys to this closet full of beer" ~Noah
everyone went to sleep
so i watched some national geographic special on gross job, like people who dive in sewers and stuff. then when noah woke up we went to the hollywood grill and i had cheese fries that had like melted kraft singles on them... i just don't like that place. it's no white palace. we were seated in the i love lucy section though.
going to see bobby bare jr tommorow. woot! and i am off. so maybe i will actually post on here. sorry i have been in a posting rut.
