woo hideout block party!
I didn't really get the whole impact of block partying the whole weekend, but upon Rosie telling me Bobby Bare Jr. wasn't going on til 8 (LIES!) I decided to hightail it over there to catch him. His set was about halfway through when I got there, and I would have been mad except that I caught a few of his songs that I really love AND he did a DECEMBERISTS song for the encore! Yes, Bobby Bare Jr. did "I Was Meant for the Stage"! It was the coolest thing EVER!
Somehow, I managed to get pretty wasted pretty quick. This might have had something to do with Dan Shea's never ending beers and Katie's "have some Jager outta this bottle". Hell, at least I didn't drop a full whiskey like James. All in all, a good time was had. AND THE MOON! Stacy, you need to learn how to drink beer!

Ziggy.
I picked up a Ziggy "treasury" at the thrift strore today. Poor guy, he's such a loser. In fact, his book is difficult to read.
There are 8 new hello kitty toys at McDonalds... ugh, we just recovered from the damn neopets thing. Kristina came over and we drank Absolut Raspberri (that's how they spell it!) and lemonade which is way tasty stuff. talked to noah on the phone. sigh. my room is messy again. missing the hideout block party 'cause of work. oh well, it's not like i have some crappy job.

tiiiiiiiiiired
Last nite was nice. Stacy picked me up at work and Alison, Kris and Kristina (Xtina?) met us @ Delilahs... when they left, James showed up shortly after... when they left Graham showed up soon after. How does that always happen? I'm just lucky I guess.
I think that taco joint around the corner from Delilah's has the best beans and rice in the city.

Hurricane Chasing
woot, I'm heading to Jacksonville for the weekend. If any of youse guys there still read this, give me a call, or an email, or send a singing telegram, or whatever.
I've never gotten a singing telegram before... well, in high school Amber kept sending me one to my homeroom, it was supposed to be a birthday gram, but she got them to sing "rainbow connection" for some reason, and I was always missing homeroom, so they came like a month straight on fridays and pissed my homeroom off.
Noah's gone
...back to TX. Don't tell him this, but I actually kinda miss him.
yay wilco show!!!
there's more! Click above/
Wow, last night's show couldn't have been much more perfect. The whole day was nice actually.... Columbia is an really kick ass little place with some neato record stores and clothing stores, super nice people, and one great venue. The Blue Note had ARCTIC BLAST air conditioning and an amazing beer selection including Fat Tire. All these things made Calexico a bajillion times more enjoyable than Sunday night, even with an abreviated set (they ARE the openers...) Much booty was shook by Sooz, Heidi and myself. Wilco were aweXome after a month off... They played some new old songs very fantastically then launched into Candyfloss in which I think the opening verse might have been drownded out by the shreiks of delight from the front row. The ARCTIC BLAST AC prevented me from breaking a sweat and I swear I danced very intensely throughout. It was the so freaking great being surrounded by people I love and drinking good beer and not being hot and hearing your favorite songs played so aweXomely! ARRRRGH. If this was my last Wilco show it would be okay. (Special ThanksÆ to Paul for everything and general radness, Dick for getting me to work by 4 today, and Heidi radness and general everything)
oh the set list:
Christ for President
A Magazine Called Sunset (yay!)
Hell Is Chrome
Muzzle of Bees
Pot Kettle Black (yayyay!)
Company In My Back

A Shot in the Arm
War on War
Handshake Drugs
Hummingbird
Theologians

Poor Places

woo calexico!
I had never seen them live, and only just realized I dug the albums. It was a scorching hot nite in the Double Door, and a sold out crowd. Thax Douglas introduced the band and Burns and Convertino came out and played "Convict Pool" as a duo, then the other four members of the band came out and joined them. Lots of recognizable stuff... possibly some new stuff, and some great covers including Love's "Alone Again Or" (which is on the EP... and is much better than the Damned's cover of it :P). I found it nearly impossible to not shake my booty even though it was a freakin' sauna in there! Janet Bean and Catherine Irwin from Freakwater came out and provided vocals on a song, with Irwin sticking around providing some mangled french spoken word on a song. There were two encores, the first included a song that appeared to have some somewhat improvised lyrics (look for the raven!) and Kristina and I kinda missed the second one as we moved from our leaning against the monitor spots after the house lights and music came on, but we caught it from the ladies room and bar... a delicious melon vodka and lemonade was really the only thing that could follow the show!

happy german fest!
once a year the neighborhood the store i work in goes CRAZY and drinks beer and eats sausage, so we joined them within the confines of the store and catered to their musical needs.
Alison and Kris took me out for belated b-day ice cream at margies and gave me some aweXome gifts including these stick on window clingy things of Star Trek Next Gen that you color yourself!! WOOOOT!! we played Clue with Noah and Cali, except I kinda screwed up the game. Alison was the killer though!

why noah is pretty nice
we were watching the Triumph the Insult Comic Dog DVD w/ Sooz in her room and despite the hilarity she fell asleep. He left his shoes in there! He didn't want to step on a needle or something going out to his car, and we didn't want to wake her (and Amelia) so I gave him these platformy pink flip flops to wear out AND he still took the garbage with him. I take back all those mean things i said about him. ;)

kittie addicts
Noah and I hooked the cats up with some catnip. it was like haight asbury as the cats rolled around all crazy and loved each other. oh yeah, the new kittie is staying, her name is Cali. NOT because she is a calico, but because of where she was found (off California Ave!)
awww she's kissing me right now!

happy birthday to me or how's your pole position?
My birthday celebration started last nite with lots of dippy foods, friends and booze. how can you miss with that, really? got some lovely records and video games and stuff to drink and eat AND a bag from the world's largest brat fest! Not to mention a few heated rounds of scattergories. Noah, Stacy and I went bowling at 3am which is when the really seedy blood covered people are out. thanks to everyone who showed last nite :)

dang, i don't know about this new matthew sweet. what happened to the whole "getting signed to capitol" thing? anyhoot, did he have to hock his guitar? i don't think there's a guitar on here, but there sure are some steel drums. hopefully it will grow on me. at least the Finn Brothers and the Will Johnson are really aweXome.
it's late, i should sleep.

oh crap!

You are Donnie Darko! You are confused and mentally
unstable but you are a truly great guy who just
wants to love, be loved, and not die alone.
"I promise one day everything will be
better for you."
Which Donnie Darko character are you?

Apparantly the neighbor kids showed sooz this kitten while noah and i were at "the" Jewel trying to find Jell-o Pudding pops. She has the looooooooongest froggie legs and super long tail and is biting on my iBook as I type. I hope we can keep her!! I hope she doesn't eat my maccy.
