Cats In Sinks

No really!

Update Now

The LPs are kinda together. The CDs are mostly on the shelf, except for the misc. pile that doesn't fit. I had a break since I felt nauseus, perhaps from not eating anything (Sooz, I owe you a can of Spaghetti-Os). The bathtub and sink are really clean. The misc. box is almost to heavy to lift. After some Swiffering, laundering and poster hanging I will be ready to call this a day. I have a feeling I will be going to BK for dinner. Ugh.

I have a solution

I think I am going to throw everything not necessary in a box and hide it. Replacements fest cancelled for Super Furry Animals DVD screening. I found the pushpins.

Cleaning my Room take 12

Remember a few weeks ago when I was cleaning my room? I guess it didn't take. Here I am again, on a day off, trying to accomplish it once more. What is my problem? Too many LPs, CDs, and DVDs? I do not know. I have always been like this. This weekend while out junking with Sooz and Alison I bought a stack of slightly water damamged LPs... awesome 80s stuff: Sparks, Selector, Sigue Sigue Sputnik... and a VERY water damaged sleeved copy of Pleased to Meet Me. The vinyl is fine though. After the New Order fest I will have a Replacements fest. What else has been going on? Partying, Rocking, the usual. I'm really stalling here, aren't I? I need to find my pushpins. Okay, back to work, really.

The past few days

I saw Devin Davis at Bottom Lounge Wednesday based on Gena's playing the album and Laura and Kristina's recommendation, and it was good! AND he lived in Jacksonville before moving to Chicago. I know of four of us, we should start a club. Last nite Sooz, Laura and I went to dinner and there was a bulldog hanging out. Later we discovered a really large Radio Flyer. I had no idea! Yesterday marked a momentous occasion, I got the last Jason Molina record I needed to have all of his full lengths on vinyl, the as of now not repressed Impala. woot.

Woot, it's Tuesday

I felt really cruddy yesterday. Today I feel not as cruddy despite working 10 hours. I mean, how gruelling is 10 hours in a record store? not that bad. Everyone was buying the New Pornographers, which I haven't decided I love yet. I hadn't bought much new stuff til this week which I got: August Born, New Pornos, Miss Alex White (All on the LP format), Arcade Fire, Devendra Banhart & Xiu Xiu split and Anna Oxygen (all on the 7" single format in various colored vinyl) and the Belle & Sebastian singles comp (on the crummy CD format...) also got the new Devendra full length promo and hopefully tomorrow will have the Flaming Lips video DVD. Looks like Sepetember 13 is the next hot release date.

Finally finished Adam's one sheet so we can start sending out the CDs. Kinda scary!

Oh yeah, Vinnie had to go to the vet Sunday nite! He was dehydrated and has a UTI! He's not quite back to his normal Vinnieness, but he's getting there.

I don't understand this.

In order to watch normal broadcast tv in my room, in leiu of an antenna I have a coaxial cable coming out of that place on the back of the tv, and a foil pill package stabbed on the end of it, and it gets a good signal. weird.

'sup?

Noah complained that my NP hadn't changed in a while. I think it had, but I kept going back to Sloan. I know that's weird, but I have been stuck on that album. Meanwhile, I have listened to the new MMJ... I think I like it better than the last one, it's pretty funky.

Sooz and I saw Broken Flowers last nite. I give it my thumb up!

Severe Thunderstorm watch today. I think that's all I have for you.

I think the sleep monitoring is over...

But I haven't gotten a call back, so I just continue to wear the monitor. I really should fill out the 800 page psych evaluations.

My mix tape treking didn't go well. I found the one at Max Gerber on Milwaukee, but I don't think anything was in the station, and I was going to leave mine BUT totally left it on the counter! (way too much butt there).

so yeah, that's it for now.

TMP

that's Too much partying. Sundays are the new Mondays. I partied like I was 26 or so again this weekend. I'm glad to know Chicago and myself still have it in them. But how come my gin and tonic didn't glow an opalescent blue like Gena's?

Wow I Forgot

I have been so charmed by Andrew Bird & The Mysterious Production of Eggs the I forgot how insanely amazing Weather Systems is. His cover of "Don't Be Scared" is incredible.

I give up

That's it for the cleaning, and Sloan. Made it thru side 4 of Four Nights. Consumed waaaaay too much foie gras tonite, if I die it will have been a really really good weekend, perhaps one of my best in Chicago. Thanks everyone who contributed.

Free alcohol and fireworks, must pick up.... Apparantly the reply to email doesn't work. damn.

Update #5

Side 2 LP 1. The carpet is more visible then it has been in some time. Could vacuuming be next? I am going to have to stop soon to get presentable for dinner. Oh gods, dinner.

Sam @ 5:39:00 PM| 0 comments

Update #4

Chester the Molestor. Okay, vinyl is sorta done. I think I can find stuff now. I had to resist the temptation to put random stuff on and listen to it (Free Design Remixes! Sesame Street Disco! East Bound and Down!) so the making myself listen to every Sloan album is keeping me somewhat focused. Though flipping over all 6 sides of Four Nights might get distracting... I will preservere. I will finish this tonite. The cleaning, that is.

Sam @ 4:51:00 PM| 0 comments

Update #3

Just fininshing up with the Party Album and the LPs are daunting. The only thing keeping me motivated is we are going to Sweets and Savories tonite. Praise the gods. I haven't eaten anything all day in preparation, or perhaps laziness. I have almost imported the entire Scott Walker box set. Not really iPod listening, but whatever.

Sam @ 4:25:00 PM| 0 comments

Update #2

Junior Panthers, OCTA. Fuck, my shelf that I keep my CDs in is totally full. I might have to relocate the Wilco Archives which takes up one shelf. Onto the vinyl... FUN!

Cleaning my Room Update

Have to decided to listen to every Sloan album in order. Smeared is kinda eh... but now I am on Twice Removed so morale has improved. However, I have not gotten past the CD shelf. It is a mess. I have no organization to my collection, except putting all the same band's stuff together. I don't think alphabetical would really serve me well, so everything is in loose catagories. Though I don't really know what catagory includes B-52's and Outkast, but they are together nonetheless. Stay tuned for updates, while I import CDs onto L'il Brudder for eventual transfer onto Tony, the external hard drive.

The Adam Fitz CD Release Show!

It appeared to be a success. I knew many people who were there, though it was a bit weird to have like all my different social circles coliding. Adam and the guys playing with him were really fucking aweXome! Healthy White Baby were tight as hell and rockin'! The Dexter Romweber Duo was loud, but I think I was a little, uh... partied up by then. I even had a good time with someone I usually have a not really good time with, so we'll see if that trend continues. hmmmmmmmmmmm.... Today, I am going to clean my room. No, really.

Thursday, August 04, 2005

what are you doing tomorrow nite?

You really should be going to the Hideout to see Adam Fitz opening for Healthy White Baby opening for Dexter Romweber. The world (or at least a handful of people in Chicago) have eagerly been awaiting the release of the Adam Fitz album Between the Incident and the Event and tomorrow is actually the day (gods willing and the creek don't rise and the package arrives). Adam is one of the first people I met in Chicago (on a Monday night at the Hideout no less) and one of the only ones I have not pissed off, therefore retaining his friendship while I crushed everyone else on my climb up the Chicago social ladder. I have also held on to the CD-R of early versions of some of these songs that he gave me way the hell back when like it is something special, which leads me to believe it is. I expect the evening to be filled with great music, $3.25 Summit Hefe Weisen with fat lemon wedges and well timed high fives. Not to mention a handful of people cool enough to get there early enough to catch his opening opening set which should blow the roof off the Hideout thus leaving the other talented acts performing in a topless Hideout. The whole thing gets underway at the manageable hour of 10 pm, so you have no excuse for missing him. You can go get dinner at some fine Wicker Park eatery and still make it. So I'll see you there, right?

oh yeah, pierogi fest!!

Here are Paul, Alison, Kris and Gina as pierogis! We had a wonderful time, eating lots of pierogis and enjoying all the sites that Whiting, IN had to offer. We bought some stuff from crafters and consumed even more pierogis with a little sausage thrown in for good measure. the best craft was the Glass Pierogi Bead Sooz found. Wearing it makes me want to eat them though. Oh and Sooz got to hang with Mr. Pierogi. That was Sunday, Monday was Ed @ the Hideout which I'll either tell you about later or not remember at all but maybe post a picture of.

Please Welcome L'il Brudder!

It doesn't show up really well in the pic, but his apple is in fact PINK! this is next though... the funny thing is I totally had a gel sample book back in high school. We used to joke about the bastard amber... for now though, she is pink, but you just wait, he (i haven't really determined a gender... I mean I guess being L'il Brudder she is a boy.. but she's pink. I mean my pink iPod has kind of a boy's name... uh yeah).
