Farewell Jr, Hello The III
Of course a few months after getting the too cute for words ______ T. iPod Jr Apple released all the new fancy ones. I consoled myself by thinking that 6gb was really enough in an adorable pink aluminum package. Well, I caved, and sold him off for a 60gb black one. I left nothing on Jr except for the Smoking Popes, Adam Fitz, Scott Walker and ONE song by A Flock of Seagulls.
Anyhoot, the III is pretty awesome. I mean, now I can watch Yacht Rock on the bus!

Ho.
Yeah, that's right, just one ho from me. Not much really happening, or to report. Ham was consumed, my sinuses are in shitty shape (I blame the weather). Scott says he is going to pick me up from the airport when I go to Jacksonville on the 12th of Jan. I have a hard time trusting him, but what the hell. I guess he has always come thru in that department at least. uh what else. nothing really.

oh yeah, i'm still here.
Not much to post about really. Perhaps the Hideout tonite for the remnants of the Palliard show and the John Ciba dance party?
Sooz got me some stripey raviolli and the most beautiful red velvet cupcake from Fox & obel. It was like a Christmas Candy Explosion on top of it! Kris and Alison came over and played Life with me last nite. I was a doctor, and became the president and won the game with over a million $$. Woot! Then I watched the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which I enjoyed way better than I anticipated. I have hit Renée and Steve (aka my sister and brother in Jacksonville) up for a ticket home in January. It is onsale right now with Southwest (the sorry we killed someone sale?). I usually am not one to bitch about the seasons, but this winter has been fucked up and a few days away from it might do me some good. Speaking of Jacksonville, I don't know how many folks there read this, but you should totally go see Devin Davis at Eclipse on Xmas nite. I know I would if I were there. It'll be better than King Kong or the gay cowboy movie.

oops
Laura informed me I haven't posted really in a while. I blame the Nintendo DS. Yeah, I bought one, and convinced friends to buy them as well, so we can play against each other! Uh, what has happened in the meantime? Did I go to some shows? Ugh, this is why I need to post stuff WHEN it happens. Well, there was the Second City Letters to Santa thing, where I saw Jeff Tweedy, The Blisters and Robbie Fulks AND Jason Molina!!! That was truly magical. He did "Down the Wrong Road Both Ways" and "Hold On Magnolia" and maybe "Nashville Moon"? and a handful of other songs!! sigh. Oh yeah, and we won a Tweedy show in our basement (along with two other groups). Oh yeah, the Sadies were Dec. 1, that was a GREAT show at Schubas. Um, am I forgetting anything? I dunno. Last night was the Calexico/Iron and Wine show at Congress, which is a crappy venue but we had the front of the balcony to party down in. It was quite a show, lots going on, I was only disappointed that they did not play "History of Lovers". Then we went to the Bottle and saw Nels Cline, Jeff Parker and some other dudes. Yay free jazz! okay, i think that's it. I promise to take more breaks from Nintendoing and post.

Quote of the Year?
"I'm pretty sure you and Scott Walker need to hang
out, because I'm pretty sure you like him more than he does. Maybe
you can get married, and have his moody, reclusive, baritone babies."
~Tim
That was scary.
Tim made this mix, and i tried to listen to it when I went to sleep, but I thought i was going to drown and put on belle and sebastian instead. it was pretty awesome.
Hooray!
Paul got me Scott 2 on vinyl, it sounds beautiful.

Use it if you need it, don't forget to feed it.
I watched the Muppet Christmas Carol for the first time. I was disappointed. So I then watched the original Muppet Movie, with songs by Paul Williams. Dear gods, can that dude write a song!? The answer is yes. Today, I did nothing but go to work and buy earphones and eat chinese food, as a result of a nasty hangover which had its origins at Tim's office party and then ended up at Ricochets, and finally a Golden Nugget that kinda got the chopped ham and eggs wrong. WTF.
Back to the Muppet Movie, I finally got it tonite. I believe Kermit spelled it out: something about a bunch of weirdos getting together, and though you may seem like you're alone, you're part of some family. Deep shit from a frog.
