phew.
what a weekend. even if I did skip out on Friday nite (ray manzarek, er Gil Mantera, BoRox, etc)... Saturday w/ Laura and friends at the H/O for the half lame half amazing dance party certainly made up for it, and tonite was Xtina's Bday celebration featuring some AMAZING risotto from Laura and Boozeanne, I mean Sooz. oops. Kris and I then made our way to that place smelling of burnt enchiladas for the last nite of my dear sweet friend who shall remain nameless's stint at that mexican place, then ended up at another mexican place. man, I have ended up at Flash Taco way too many times the past couple weeks, whatever, I am greatful for it, and not having to eat BK. who knows what tomorrow will bring?! Club Foot? Bottle? Liver damage?
oh and Thursday was the Sweatbox memorial comp. how could I forget that? Lemme ask this: How can I get a bottle of delicious Point Beer for $2.50 at Subterranean, yet a CAN of PBR at Big Horse is $3, and any other domestic $4?! insanity!!

some stuff
i'm not really sure how the earwax thing worked out. my ears kinda feel...oooshy. not quite the experience i was assured it would be. last nite was Jeff Tweedy at the Abbey. He was good, but man, what a lame crowd (even if the yelling did include someone yelling out my name... Jonny??) And mmm, that Abbey meatloaf. There are a lot of shows coming up, i think i need to actually utilize "the calender". this will not be fun.
ewww
okay feeling slightly better, getting ready to flush.
icky
icky icky icky, crackling sound in my ear. feeling somewhat clean though.
ARRRRRRRRRGH
this sux SOOOOOOOOO bad. cold freaky, putty in my ears. gross gross gross.
Earwax removal
on the recommendation of HWSRN last nite, I am going to use an earwax removal kit. I am a little freaked out, so I may perhaps provide a minute by minute account of the event. Here we go.

groan
i want to be asleep right now. I guess I will try.

i can't hear you
my earphones fit weird. I think i have too much wax in my ears. I am kinda scared to clean that though.
Whee Happenings!
Last nite saw Chris Mills, Edith Frost and Califone at the Hideout. Edith has a beautiful voice, but her lyrics made me want to kill myself. My sweater was the subject of many compliments, I will NEVER wear it again.
Tonite was Colin Meloy at the Park West. It was good, I didn't enjoy the baby song at all though. I did enjoy what I have kinda thought as my theme song, and sang along at the top of my lungs with "Everything I Try To Do, Nothing Seems to Turn Out Right". sigh.
Today will be fun day, or as much fun as Paul and I can have in cold windiness. IE not much. Walk the Line finally? Then maybe a drink with he who shall remain nameless. Doubtful though. (you don't read this, right? I always quiz you, but it's like the wife in brokeback mountain and the fishing box, but you're not gay i don't think, and likely not going fishing, or reading this even. uh moving on.)
And Wednesday is Tweedy at the Abbey, then Thursday probably Adam and some Sweatbox alumni at Subterranean... oh, but there is also the thing at Martyrs. Then, I will likey pass out from exhaustion, alcohol over consumption and malnourishment. fuck yeah.
I just realized there is no uniformity in the methods I use to discuss days past and to come. sorry.

look out, here i come again, etc.
It looks like Wilco is playing Jacksonville in March for the first time in 11 years. How could I miss that?
quote of the whenever.
"I find that, people who own record stores...the
proprieters..usually very cool...the clerks however, for the most part, not very...(Samo excluded since Samo is very very cool.)" ~Alex
right, until you come in drunk during Germanfest and ask me for the Scorpions.

That seems right.
pleasantries that accumulate like unwanted mail.
i think i am feeling okay, at least there is something to look forward to. i'm not going into any more details. i think it's okay though.
i have read that colin meloy wrote "my mother was a chinese trapeze artist" in repsonse to a family trip where he decided he wanted nothing to do with his family. I can abolutely understand that, and have done it a tiny bit to some extent. though with my family, most of the extreme stuff is probably true.
i know
i just left jacksonville, and was all "i'm never going back! jacksonville SUCKS!!" but, guess who's playing in March?
Pencil me in. again. ugh. boo.

This Spells Trouble
I have been promised a night with a winnebago, beer and jager. And I get almost two whole days with Scott. Will wonders never cease?
Next stop: Jacksonville, home of Lynyrd Skynyrd, 38 Special, Limp Bizkit, Molly Hatchet, and uh, Yellowcard?

it's an update
Yep. Um. So much to say, yet there's not much I can say. Went to Big Horse last nite with Tim. Going to Jacksonville Thursday. In the process missing Magnolia w. Palliard and like a gazillion other things, but at least I'll get some gravy. Plus there's a bunch of cool stuff when I get back.
siiiiiiiiiiigh.

The What type of meat are you? Test
The What type of meat are you? TestI would never have guessed this one.
Corned Beef Here's your Meat Spirit: |
Chewy and unctuous, Corned Beef is your spirit guide.
Your comforting tenderness belies the sultry nature that lurks at your core. You are usually served with a side of salty steamed cabbage which tends to cause indigestion and mealy boiled potatoes which sometimes gum up the works. You are not to everyone's taste, but a true connoisseur will appreciate your homey nature. Your life may not be perfect, but your spirit guide will be the best caretaker that it can be. |
|
My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 33% on meatiness |

Way to go VH1 Classic
Someone is a programming genius: Wendy and Lisa, the Time and Sheila E. Hopefully Vanity 6 is next.
Not much going on, no really. Trying to fill the new iPod, I have a feeling half the stuff on there I may never even listen to.
Oh yeah, there was New Years. Sooz, Matt and I watched all the lameo NYE things on TV. I was most excited by "my homies" Kanye and Common on MTV.
Okay, the next video is the Bangles. Still a connection, but it would have been uncanny if it was Manic Monday.
