Today's Temp
Holding steady at 69 degrees. YAY!

yay!
Monday nite made up for the unhappiness that was my weekend, even though not much dancing occurred at Club Foot. Overall it was just lovely. Last nite I went to that comedy thing with Fred Armisen at Weeds. Could that place have been more celebrity packed? I was like 4 people away from John C. Reilly! I wanted to ask him if he'd be my friend on Friendship Alliance, but I really didn't want to bug him. The comedy was funny though, which is a good sign, and Azita doing a Journey song? Hell yeah.

lepreCAN fantasy finally came true.

America's Drunkest Cities
We're number six!! The format of the results really stinks though. What's up with the cheesy stock photos?
blah blah
Nothing happened today. Well, I worked, and Meg drove Adam home and then me, which is always nice. Going to the Mutiny for the Romeros tomorrow, it's FREE!

Ship of Fools
Yesterday after some retail therapy I went over to Park West. Had I known there were TWO openers I would have gone much later, but as it was I was able to sit in a seat for the entirity of the Melissa Ethridge wannabe and sulk. I bought a $5 MGD (EEEEW) and fought my way up to the front as soon as
Elvis Perkins started. Okay, there was no fighting involved, as there were two dudes and some really young kid at the front and that was IT. Elvis and his band were really good, some songs better than others. I wish his set was a little shorter, but otherwise I dug it. Finally World Party came out and opened with "Put the Message in a Box" and the brownie I ate kicked in and all was well. Besides the younster next to me in a Dandy Warhols shirt, I was the youngest "hippest" person there. They played everything I could want to hear, and actually it all sounded better live, as I think the albums suffer from weird 90s production. I need to listen to the "new" one a little bit more. As I left I called James and said I should just stop in since I would be passing on the bus anyways, but I ended up walking to Damen and Ashland to find beer. Why are there no liquor stores open past 11pm in Wicker fucking Park? I ended up at a 7-eleven which was actually fine since they had Anchor Steam. James cleaned and we drank beers and started watching a movie then kinda fell asleep.
Home now, my hair will be a different color later on. Sweets and Savories with Sooz and Laura later (hooray!) Oh man, I had a smidgen of foie gras risotto today, I am such a law breaker!
Let's hear it for homeland security
Is that a grenade in your pocket? So let me get this straight, he'd rather mom think he's a terrorist than mom knowing he's insecure about the size of his unit? Sad.

Happy Birthday LeRoy
Tonite was pretty lovely at the Hideout. Some people I hadn't seen in a while, some I see a lot. I think this will be the year I remember LeRoy is NOT a Virgo.
Gods the weather here is incredible right now. I want 3 more months of this.
Tomorrow is the day I will do some things. Perhaps attempting to get my Social Security Card, maybe dying my hair, going to see World Party most likely alone. I can deal I think.
Oh man, I think I love the new M. Ward.
Oh holy shit, after the Hideout Block Party first nite Vee Dee is playing at the Mutiny! Patti, be prepared for a lot of eating and shows.

One monk time
The one guy from the Monks with the Goblins was better than I expected. Or maybe that's all the booze and otherwise I consumed in way too short a time. Oh I almost forgot about the water incident. James threw water at my chest, so later on Dan's urging I threw water at James' crotch. Woot! After Jager we quickly departed to get home in time for the second showing of Tom Goes to the Mayor but it wasn't on until 3:30 am! oops. He napped, I did an etch-a-sketch of said event. Then we watched Tom and quickly fell asleep afterwards. My head is a little woozy this morn. (BTW the red flag is flying this week and that's a good thing!)

Wow that was a good show!
Yesterday was a really really long day. I opened and worked 'til 6, came home, walked to the Bottle and met Meg (everyone else ditched, BOO!) and had a few drinks and danced to Detholz! til I was really really sweaty. Then, Mucca Pazza! Meg half assedly danced with me, then midway thru James and Dan showed up. At one point, I couldn't see because the sweat had dripped in my eyes!!! James and I had some more to drink, then we went with Dan and hung out at someone's cute apartment and a dude played the Monkees first album and Vee Dee. Weird! Then I went downtown with James (this is like 4am mind you) and he fixed a server or something? We then accquired junk food (assorted fish?) and walked around downtown. I love downtown in the early early morning. That's one thing I miss about Starbucks, that and the whipped cream I think. Passed out at his place. Today I did nothing but walk home and go to work (thanks Nick for the rides, holy crap!) and now I am being lazy. Hooray!

OMFG I am sooooooo excited!!!
The last couple Sloan albums were alright. Kinda big dumb rock records that I still listen to, but not as much as their older stuff. There was one Jay song released online, and it got me pretty excited. Now there's a new Chris song out there (which I got the info on
here) and I think I got a little misty listening to it. RETURN TO FORM!!!!!! I think Scott Walker has a contender for Album of the Year According to Me. 30 freaking songs from all of them! Keyboards! I wanna hear the whole thing, but I want to wait until it's actually in my hands!!
Speaking of which, the new Decemberists. Hmmmm. A weird mix of XRT friendly adult jamz and prog rock. I think I'm down with it!
Things that should also be gotten excited over include this Depeche Mode video for "Everything Counts" on VH1 classic right this second, the Rhino Deluxe reissues of the first two Monkees records (STEREO AND MONO! NEVER BEFORE HEARD BONUS TRAX!), and the Mucca Pazza/Detholz! show at Empty Bottle Friday. Oh and speaking of Detholz! rumor has it they are playing a show at Hotel SnS for a friend who's leaving us. Hmmm.

whoa
I've been trying to make this post for a bit, and I can't. I don't think it's possible to put into words the superduper funness that was last nite. So there.
Today however, ugh. Not feeling so good. Totally worth it though.
Best nite in Chicago EVER?
I am covered in glitter and bruises. More later.

Mauled by Tigers
Well, that was something. Yesterday was a long day of rock split between Ronnie's and Cal's. There was beer and glitter and brownies and etc. Just got home, heading out thrifting, not sure about tonite...

But you are what you love, Tim, not what loves you back.
Laura- You suck for getting wasted so early tonite. you and I are going to see Jenny Lewis the nite she comes back. You are sick if you have class that nite. Me? I never have class. I will wear a dress, drink MGDs and sing along to every song.
OMG fuck you all that weren't there, but tonite was the best nite at the hideout EVER. I know, like each nite at the hideout supercedes the previous, but until September 8 this will be it. There was so much soul in the Hideout tonite, that I don't have any clever bullshit repsonses to what I've already typed.
Best nite ever!

Dutch Oven
Yesterday was another almost completely unproductive day, though I did make vegan snickerdoodles (they were...sandy) which James proclaimed the best cookies ever, but I don't know if I believe him. Oh well, we watched
Rushmore which is still one of my favoritest films EVER. I watched
The Life Aquatic the night before which is also up there. That one just gets better every damn time. Anyhoot, there was farting and pajamas (which need pockets apparently) and such. Work today, then Hideout tonite! (and possibly the next few nites).

Tom Waits!
I consumed a lot of Slurpees/Soda/Jameson between work and the Auditorium Theatre with Tim. The brown line ride was lovely. We then began our ascent up to the 2nd balcony (sixth floor if yr counting at home) and wedged ourselves in the tiny seats, and then there was Tom Waits! Well, I'm reasonably sure it was him. It sounded like him and he moved all crazy! It all sounded really amazing, and everything that was played was great, but with someone with as vast a catalog as him, there's always one or two you're not gonna hear that you want. At least he's one I can cross off the list.
Did NOTHING today, and it was somewhat glorious. Ate lentils and rice, "mellowed out", watched Star Trek and talked on the phone some. I know not what tomorrow has in store for me, I really need to work on this upcoming basement show and whatnot.

Be Prepared
I am still getting over that Of Montreal show, that was so fucking great. GREAT!! Man, I can't quite remember everything since then. Big Buildings Saturday nite. Dinner with Laura and Sooz Sunday. Oh yeah, Monday nite! They are kinda back at the Hideout this month, at least LeRoy is there. The weather last nite couldn't have been more amazing. James and I were walking from his place where we ran into Paul, whom we seem to see at bus stops a lot. We got kinda drunk fast, and some things are a little fuzzy. Slevy and Kris were there. Tamale guy was there. James drank the red sauce, which I noticed later, but it was good. Worked today, then TOM WAITS TOMORROW!! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Saturday, August 05, 2006
I don't need a photograph 'cause you never left my mind or You're just a kid with a mini pad.
Holy shit, Of Montreal was amazing! Glitter, swords, boys in skirts and shiny red boots, champagne. YAY!!!
And now, First Season Degrassi!!

Hooray for AC!
James let me hang at his place for the two really hot days, and we ran around downtown while it rained really hard and my socks got gross and I had to wear his. Oh shit, I just realized they are still here. Went to Delilah's Wednesday. We drank and the guy sitting next to us had a Kum n Go lighter just like mine. (Thanks to Paul K. for the drinks) So, yay, back at my place last nite (not that I minded James' place, but uh, the bed was cozy, and I do love his cat).
I feel awkward posting some of this, I'll shut up now. Rest assured I feel REALLY happy right now and going to see Of Montreal at Schubas tonite!

It is still 93 out and our AC is BROKEN!!! I am heading to somewhere with AC.
