First Annual Candy Corn Social
thanks to all the guests (all 7 of you!) who made it such a success! Candy Corn and Cheese was consumed, beer was had, Ghosts were Busted. Tamales were gotten at Club Foot later on and more Ghosts were Busted. You know, Bustin' makes me feel good!
Oh and Califone last nite at the Hideout was incredible. The new songs are wonderful, the old songs never get tired, it always harkens back to that first time at Links Hall when I saw them open for Godspeed and flipped out. I really love that band a lot. That, and dramatic readings from Wassup? magazine with Lou (not to mention some serious car hanging out time) made my third night in a row at the Hideout pretty hooray.
Calypso tomorrow? Costume? Yikes. I don't work 'til 4!

stuff
I have completed my Halloween costume HOORAY!! Halloween observed will be spent at the Bottle with the Detholz! Jukebox of the Dead/Album release show HOORAY! Sunday is Califone at the Hideout HOORAY! not sure about tomorrow, there is a lot going on. I'll probably just crap out. Matt and I still need to watch Logan's Run. We watched Omega Man last nite. Wow, Charleton Heston. Uhhhhh. Delicious dinner at Sweets and Savories tonite, where Paul K. let the booze flow and I ended up somewhere that wasn't my own bed, for a time anyways. The funny thing about being diagnosed with delayed sleep blah blah is that I can use it as an out. "Look, that was awesome and such, but it's 2 am and I'm not really tired. Do you wanna go dancing?" Especially if the person works a square job and actually has to wake up in the morning.

oh hooray!
Today was a good day. Danced on Chic-a-go-go amongst lovely people, and went to dinner with James while he was still in full costume. Zombieness, glitter, yellow tights. All of it. Then new ATHF! Then Matt and I watched that soft core porn show on the Oh!Prah channel.
I am now realizing I must stop listening to Molina non stop, and pay attention to the other albums that came out this year. I have really been into the new Bonnie "Prince" Billy, but need to relisten to other things, like this Centro-matic. I also apparently need to listen more to the Neko Case.

intense weekend
and it is not over yet. Last nite was MECo at the Abbey, and a very diverse group of people were there with me. The show itself was wonderful. Damn. Tonite was
Tim and Eric at South Union Arts, then an afterparty at some Lumpen loft. Two words: Confetti!
Sunday is Chic-a-go-go. I have no costume in mind, I will pull something out of my closet tomorrow when I get up, I suppose. Hopefully my real costume will be assembled by Saturday.

We're Number 2!!
NAVA - AMERICAN CITY FLAGS SURVEYCongrats, DC. Man, I was shocked to see Jacksonville so high up. Ever since I was a kid I thought that was one ugly flag. I guess it has originality of design going for it. Check out Provo.

Hooray Fake Weekend!
Hung out with Sooz and Matt tonite, she made some lovely soup and lovelier cupcakes. Made an emergency run to Target, drank same beers, listened to some tunes. Now hanging with Matt watching the Alternative on Vh1 classic.
what else... oh Jon got me the new Sloan CD from Best Buy (Canada) hooray and thanks! Cooper invited Adam and I (and whomever) to the Dethouse Halloween party, which we should be hitting up after the MECo show Friday. Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow.

Bonnie "Prince" Billy at a movie theatre!
I loved the hell out of this show. A weird venue to see a total weirdo, it was pretty much perfect. I adore the new album, but the way the songs were played live (heavy on the plodding rock, none of the female vocals) was a revelation. I am also a fan of Azita (on keyboard) whose own solo stuff on Drag City sounds like Steely Dan. Throw in Emmett's guitar work (I think I was the only person who cheered his solo) and I was pretty much grinning like a fool the whole time. I had only decided I liked him after he played live last time in Chicago, so I was kicking myself ever since, but this was a really good experience. I was afraid the sound was going to blow, but even close to the stage (okay, I was front and slightly off center) it sounded rad. I hope this venue gets more use than Logan Square, I just have to remember to BYOB. At least I have the sweet hookup at the "concession stand".

Let me bring you up to date.
ugh.
first off, let me tell you i have an ache in my soul that i don't think i can do anything about. I'm not one for dramatics, but this one is for real. I don't think any of the concerned parties are reading this, but I'm going to be a gentlewoman. ugh ugh ugh though. this really really sucks.
anyhoot, Tilly and the Wall and the Devin Davis the night I got sprung from the hospital was great. What a joyous show, lots of crazy dancing and good vibes. Hooray!
I think I took it easy til tonite, no wait, Tim and I went and saw Team Band et al at Gunther Murphys, then i did the Hey Ya dance for Dan, whom I had not seen in a bit. Then James and I watched a movie and he fell asleep.
okay then I took it easy til tonite, which was the Consumatron party (if I had more energy i'd post a link, JFGI) featuring Adam Fitz and Lord of the Yum Yum. Adam Fitz promised a freak out with Eddie Dixon and that is what was delivered. They even did a Molina song!
Wow, so lots up this week, Bonnie "Prince" Billy tomorrow, OMFG! I need to get my halloween costume going, then Friday is Magnolia Electric Company, and supposedly Adam, Tim, Sooz AND Capt. Cummings will be going! OMFG! Then Saturday is Tim and Eric from TOM GOES TO THE MAYOR! HFS!!!! And Chic-a-go-go Sunday, I should be dead already!
I need to rest.

TWO LEFT
something resembling a second wind has hit me. no longer having blood draws because my body refused. Kristina came by for a bit which was nice. Going to watch DS9 now.
ugh
i want to die.
or sleep.
6 Down
I have completed six of the 17 testing sessions I have to complete before I get to sleep again. Tim came by and again beat me at Yahtzee. Someone better let me win, dammit. Watching X-Files marathon and playing the Trauma game. Snacks have been good, I especially enjoyed the "roast beef" and "mashed potatoes".

To answer B's Q's:
(i'm typing one handed here, warm pack on the blood giving arm)
I'm now on the 200 calories every two hours, which I get to select from a list. before that, if anyone smuggled me food i would have eaten it. there is an au bon pain here. but fast food in the hospital seems pretty ridculous. at my catholic school we had mcdonalds day. in indonesia we had pizza hut on campus.
james smuggled in salty snacks last nite, but i only had one pretzel. he stuck around til the end last nite and witnessed all the exciement (the blood thru the wall, the electrode application, the mummification). hwe played yahtzee, which he had never played. i think it was the longest game ever, and he won. sleeping sucked last nite, due to the blood thru the wall. up 'til 12 am wednesday now. yikes.

Lunch and Snack
Lunch was "chicken picatta" and some pretty good garlic mashed potatoes. Oh and some passable cheesecake. Then I had the fucking thing put in my arm, which was awful and painful. I can't believe I am doing this again. Oh wait, large amount of money.
Been watching DS9 and Buffy all day, and playing the DS game "Trauma Center: Under the Knife". Can't get past this one surgery though. Awaiting the visit of James. (I said visit of James because Jameses or whatever confuses me.
To Answer Hodie's Q:
Good question. It might have been the bowl of slightly wilty lettuce, oddly colored tomato and red onion, or the packet of miracle whip. The menu claimed it was a 1/4 pound burger. Nothing else really made it "deluxe".
Breakast today was "french toast" and yogurt, OJ, Coffee (I am presuming decaf) and milk (I passed). Currently watching Airline, where they showed some passengers going to Jacksonville from BWI boozing it up in line, and getting kicked off. Ha.
Dinner
Ewwwww. Man that was terrible, at least I got Parkay for the roll. Laura did indeed show up and smuggle me in baos, for which I am greatful. She would not play yahtzee with me though. Watching Cold Case Files now, while the electrodes are untangled from last nite.

Afternoon update
Watched 3 episodes of Star Trek Deep Space Nine season 3, going for 4. Lunch was the world's mushiest carrots, a "deluxe burger" (with a JAR of HUNTS ketchup) and a double fudge brownie.
Good Morning
After a eh pancake breakfast I am now watching a marathon of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels", which is mildly entertaining. Laura is going to smuggle me in some Wow Baos which I am looking forward to. I think i need to wash this electrode goo off me.
To Answer Alison's Q's:
1) Crushed almond breading. There were only maybe 2 slivers of almond.
2)I'm the only one they're studying right now, and for the first two days I'm getting whatever the rest of the patients in the hospital get. Once we get into the sleep dep I get a 200 calorie snack every two hours, of which I pick in advance. I got a late nite snack (dinner for me) of a turkey sandwich, chicken noodle soup, orange jell-o and chips, oh and a tiny ginger ale!
Tim came and visited, we watched Big Lebowski, am now hooked up to stuff, bedtime in a couple hours.

Dinner report:
Fish "Almandine" and confetti rice (yellowish rice with peas) and wilty broccoli (I didn't eat that). A roll (no butter), a tiny can of sprite and jello with mystery fruit (not cold). I did get a bonus cup of ice cream since the nurse had to take my blood TWICE (tapey things on each arm). Now I am enjoying the ABC Friday nite lineup, though the Hitler doc on History channel was tempting. Oh and no WiFi DS since have to accept the hospital's terms of use. I hope I get visitors tonite.
Back in the Hospital
In the exact same room. My arms are a little weak from the blood draw from each. The good news is the hospital now has WiFi. This also means I should be able to play WiFi DS games. Hooray. I kinda hate the smell of latex.

Update
Not much. Did indeed go see Bobby Conn with 1900s and danced my ass off! Sunday went and ate with James at Sticky Rice and we ran into a Dethole! (also a Bobby Conn band guy too, we just can't escape them) and he sorta fixed my Superdrive... it should hopefully play DVDs whilst incarcerated. Laying low this week leading up to Friday.
