We'll all float on okay

I'm eating lunch Friday and John's all "hey you wanna go see modest mouse?" and I'M all "why the hell not?" so after work today Laura met me and we went and got Slurpees at the Sev (I told her the dude would know what we were up to and he totally did) and enjoyed them on a leisurely brown line ride to the Auditorium Theatre.
Wow! Some memories totally came back from that place. I think mostly from 2003. I think we both enjoyed the show pretty good, though I had to run back from the bathroom when I heard the riff from Float On. Holy crap! that was the first time I saw Johnny Marr! Oh wait, so Melissa told me it was Bria's birthday but I think it was just Earth Day, but regardless we had a lovely time without electric lighting and accoustic guitars and maracas and hummus. then whom I believe to be this guy Greg that I knew once upon a time was complaining about the noise. I guess he didn't know it was mother fucking earth day. Wow. So yeah. Tim moved in this weekend. So now it's like the hotel SnS + P & T.
No really. That's all I have in me.

Hooray for Decemberists!

I was a bit worried since everyone I know who saw them the first time they played the Riv on the last tour was all "eh", but Sooz and mine's shivering in the cold for 3 hours payed off with a great spot and the show was awesome. The Ministry "Stigmata" reference was there, the Mariner's Revenge Song didn't piss me off (there was a fucking whale!) and they played a healthy balance of super old and not much
Picaresque which made me pretty happy. Oh, and the crowd surfing! Jon went first, then Colin, and Chris! P.S. I do not miss Petra.
Oh I did forget a show.
Detholz! and Plastic Crimewave Sound at Spot 6, some weird goth bar in Wrigleyville where the guys played in a poorly lit basement with a ghost bar. I had a really awesome time, and the new Detholz! stuff was great. So there.
I have been slow to update.
Errr where was I? Oh man, I can barely remember what has happened. There was an AWESOME hideout dance party. EVERYBODY danced, even Lou!! I upgraded Lil' Brudder to a new (refurbished) White MacBook! I wanted black, but a whitey was $200 cheaper, which went right to Zelda's vet bill, so that worked out okay, and whitey goes better with my bedroom anyways, which is really an important factor in selecting a new (refurbished) computer. Now I can videochat, and more importantly make mixes with ease.
Up to today... I took Zelda out and there was a giant package. I had ordered what I thought was one piece of art from
Steve Keene, but there was like at least 10 multi sized paintings! So if you are in need of art, and possibly a Pavement fan, it's quite the deal for $14!
Decemberists tonite, hooooray!

More songs about the moon and the dark etc.
Holy crap, Molina is soloing! Pretty well I might add. The new songs sound good, and they played a lot of "hits". Sooz, Dave and I were in the first row. Sooz and I started drinking a large pitcher of blue margarita at chili mac pretty early.
Zelda is most likely(?) not pregnant and has an ear infection! She hates the ear drops, even after being informed of how beneficial they are. She's probably like 1 and a half, so it may be sometime before she is able to understand logic and reasoning.

OMG where did this dog come from?!

Paul found her in a box next door! Oddly enough the only kind of dog I have ever wanted is a Pug, and that's what she is! So Zelda now lives here too. She's either pregnant or just had babies, Sooz is taking her to get checked out Tuesday. I am reading Pugs for Dummies.
In other news, Easter was celebrated with ham and lots of people (and dogs), and the Easter Bunny brought Dave his first Easter Basket (he's Muslim. Okay, Jewish.) We listened to music by people from TV shows in character.
Going back to Friday I saw Big Buildings's's's last show with their current drummer Adam. Much like Nancy Ficus, he will be missed. I think that was the first time I have had champagne at Cal's. Man, I always forget how much I love Cal's. It's one of those places you just can't have a bad time.
Holy shit, Magnolia Electric Molina tonight!!
This new Sea & Cake is really good.

Rats Off To Ya!
Oh shit. Tom Goes to the Mayor is one of the best television shows EVER. Wow. I cannot begin to grasp its brilliance.
Saturday night Melissa and I went to LSA but missed Mannequin Men. The Black Lips were AWESOME! Adam saw them during the day in Austin and one of the guitarist/singers puked on himself on stage and just kept going! Yeah! Oh and the Ponys. I do hate that place though. It's better if you know about the secret bathroom there.
Last night was Meg's B-day (born on April Fools!) which we celebrated by eating and drinking a LOT of red wine. Later Sooz, Paul, Dave and I went to Cobra for the last like 3 songs from Deal's Gone Bad and I took advantage of the $2 Makers drinks. I may have indeed been pretty "sauced" last night. I am reasonably sure I enjoyed what happened afterwards though.
Today I tried really hard to spend money, but it was pretty hard. Weird!
