Happy Birthday Paul!
Our last meeting was much too brief. Next week will be awesome though, and hopefully Hot Doug's will be open again (he broke his leg!). Patti should be here by then as well! OMG!
I'm excited about seeing Ed and Rachel tomorrow. I'm not gonna cry this time, for real!
Lotsa stuff going on in the near future. Hooray!
Watching Bottle Rocket now. This is gonna sound cheesy, but I hope Owen Wilson is okay.

What, really?
Have I been that busy? Somewhat. Sometime in all that time that passed was the totally awesome Marvin Tate album release show at the Hideout with the also totally awesome Adam Fitz opening. There were also hotdogs, and I think it was briefly sold out! Then there was Crowded House at House of Blues, part of which was good was seeing Nick and Natalie. I somehow convinced someone to go (Robert!) and we were secreted away in the high up boxes which you had to go thru like secret doors to get to. Oh and Monday nights are happening at the Hideout courtesy of Marvin and LeRoy and friends. Oh shit, did I mention the Jeneffa b-day party at the loft with Detholz and an Ann Coulter pinata?
Phew. Now on to tonite, Big Buildings free at Darkroom, then Magnolia Electric Co. at the Bottle!

Pigs in Space!
What? I haven't posted in that long? Oh man what all have you missed? I don't even think I remember! I'll work backwards:
Tonight was the AV/XPLO which started at the Bottle. We saw the Plastic Crimewave Sound and I may have jumped up and down a LOT. There was no evidence of an explosion though. Sunday I saw Marvin and LeRoy in a park, then went and got all crazy at Cal's Fest. I love Cal's. I need to get there more often. Lotsa Dancin' and the biggest can of Sparks you ever saw! Saturday was Old 97s at the Italian Fest, and an amount of Sparks that I lost count of. Special HI FIVES to Jonny W. and Elisabeth for tolerating those antics. Gods, that was a bunch of fun though!!! Er before that? Not quite sure. Did I talk about the Heaven and Hell party at Maplewood? That was cool.
Let's talk about some upcoming shit though!
No, I'm gonna leave it at that. See you there!

the corner of the love
Yes, residents of 1625 represent. El Rincon Del Amor is the Corner of the Love.
I will back this up to Wednesday Night. Two Cow Garage were to be playing at Subterranean. There are 2 awesome features of the Subterranean: 1) Point Beer on Tap 2) I can walk there in 20 minutes. I watched the first 30 minutes of the Stax Doc on PBS (thru Booker T and the MGs) and took off thinking I should give Team Band another chance. Rock N Roll Fuck Yes! Sadly the Point was out. Er, yeah. I knew it was gonna be a kind of special night, when like half the cool people I know in Chicago turned out on a W...eeknight. Wednesday? Think so. Then we got word that Dustin had quit. Wha?! the show went on, with a rowdy bunch of 2cg lovers up front screaming along. I hightailed it back home after a little time on the dancefloor downstairs and promptly puked up the infinite # of PBR n Old Style tallcans I had consumed. Ugh, I am not a kid anymore!! I shouldn't try that shit!
"Lord, what have I done?"
Thursday hangover at work was made okay by the delivery into my lil hands of the Magnolia Electric Co.
Sojourner boxset. I had resisted temptation to download any modicum of the contents of said boxset until it was delivered into said lil hands because whom I believe to be my most favorite recording artist of all times decided to release 3 and a half CDs and one DVD AND one medallion in a fucking WOODEN BOX and I just had to respect that. You can't download a WOODEN BOX and MEDALLION! I did peep the tracklistings though, and based on said listing for the
Nashville Moon disc knew there was a pretty good chance it could usurp the S:O
MECo disc as my favorite album of my lifetime, as I think all those songs have been played live for many years, yet never released in the proper format on album.
It's nearly there. It hasn't left my CD player. I don't think it will happen until it sees a vinyl release, however. It's up there though.
Okay, off Friday, spent my free time pressing the Marvin Tate CD, an entirely worthwhile cause in my book. Then Sooz, Paul and I took off for the burbs. I made them go to Cici's Pizza buffet for dinner, a favorite of mine back in Jax. For under $10 it is quite a bargain. Considering I also won a rad lil' stuffed Homer Simpson from the prize crane! Hi, welcome to Cici's!
So we came home, and they went out, then I got a call saying I should join them for drinks at Pancho's. Pancho's started out alright, but went downhill badly. Tim joined us there, and then we decided to check out the "El Rincon Del Amor Inc" mere steps from the 1625 Hotel SnS. Tim believes it to be a gay brothel? Whatever, they had a like 1970s naked lady clock over the bar, and cold Coronas. And I think we had to ring a bell to get in.
Should sleep soon. Work, then party at Maplewood!
